CH Product USB Combat Stick Briefly Loses Control

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any idea why my combat stick will loose response for a couple of seconds? I'm a flying a helicopter and that can be a real problem when trying to land or hover. Ah Help?

A question...

- How old is the stick?

- Does the 'interference' happen if the stick is in a certain position?

- Is the interference always in the same 'location' when moving the stick? (X axis or Y Axis)

- Does it happen all the time, or intermittently?

Hard to say at this point, but if it's in the same position when the stick is moved it could be the sign of a bad Potentiometer; it could also be a kink inside the Cord which could cause intermittent signal drop out.

Maybe a good cleaning with some Contact Cleaner, available at Radio Shack or other Electronics Parts store.

Hope this helps...

Well sir ... I opened up my stick and blew out the pots with some compress air ... that did the trick ... no more lost of control for a couple of seconds. I didn't think about the contact cleaner ... if it acts up again I will do that.

  • 3 weeks later...

I started having the same problem with my stick. I used the contact cleaner and it worked for a couple of days no problem ... then it started again and this time I used the compress air and saw more contact cleaner come out than I thought I used. I cleaned out the excess and put it back together, but I'm still losing control for a few seconds. I checked the solder connections and they seem good. Is there a way to test the pots with a multimeter? Can I use the pots out of a CH analog flight stick?

Thanks for reading my post.
