FSX runs flawlessly on my desktop; but for days, I have been trying to solve a flickering problem on a new laptop. In short, textures would flicker in an approximately 1 inch wide band across the screen--about two thirds the way up. You might say that textures twinkled in that band. By setting my display adapter to "quality", and not "balanced" nor "performance", and also changing the target frame rate from within FSX to 40 fps which matches the MHz refresh rate of the laptop, instead of unlimited, the flicker disappeared.
