Greetings.

This "Why I fly #20: The other Grand Canyons" happened because I was following the route of the Snake River out of the valley south of Jackson WY when I noticed a label where the river cut through the mountains: "Grand Canyon of the Snake". What?

It turns out that there are recognized Grand Canyons along a number of other rivers:

The Grand Canyon of the Gunnison, Colorado's Black Canyon is skipped as it was featured in a previous video -

-Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (WY)

-Grand Canyon of the Snake (WY)

-Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne (CA)

-Grand Canyon of the Rio Grande (NM)

-Grand Canyon of the Pacific - Waimea Canyon(HI)

and several locally-well-known canyons/gorges vying for the title of Grand Canyon of the East

-Pine Creek Gorge (PA)

-Linville Gorge (GA)

-Tallulah Gorge (NC)

-Genesee River Gorge (NY)
