dutchman2
Just curious for a clarification, are the cockpit views and vc tied together? I see offers for 2D cockpit views to take the place of the vc views used when looking other then straight ahead at the panel. Then others I fly (HJG DC-8 and -9) have the views when looking about, then show nothing if you change to the default vc view. I am asking as I had several that have great panels (A300) with no side views. I am one of those that prefers a 2D cockpit with the view when I pan around. I am interested in the Flight 1 Fokker 70/100 but have seen much ado about the lack of a vc and nothing in sight as the DA folks appear to have moved on. In spite of the lack of a vc, are there still (side-pan about) views for the 2D cockpit?
il88pp
Ehm, not clear. (could be just me ) FSX or FS2004? Then, what are you asking for exactly? Option1 In fsx, many planes have a 2D panel, but if you pan left or right, you see the vc view in that direction. (you will also notice a sustantial fps drop.) Option2 I recently saw my first plane that seemed to have several 2D panels. I only looked at that in the panel.cfg file, so I don't know how or if it worked. It did not have a VC (I think). (There was a forum question on the plane, the person wanted a VC in it, so I put in a VC, then explained to him how to do it too. I didn't look at the 2D panels in that plane.) I could take a look if I still have it, but I think there was an issue with the plane "as is". Causing fsx to crash I believe. Not sure if I want to get to deep into that. Anyway, option two, I think is several 2D panels, you see different ones by panning. (and not sure that exists.) (in fsx.) Option3 Only one 2D panel and no VC. What option does the planes you don't like have? And, more importantly, What do the planes you do like have? Do you want more planes to have multiple 2D panels and no VC? dutchman2
IN FS9 some planes do not have vc but have window/side views if you pan around the cockpit. Others such as my HJG example have the views in the 2D cockpit but if you shift to the vc, there is nothing but sky (no cockpit). I presume they used fixed pictures for those side views if there is no vc. My PMDG have the side views and the vc, which i presume to be the source of the side views in the 2D cockpit. I have seen it offered where you can use picture views developed from the vc view in the 2D cockpit to save frame rates. What I am trying to clarify is as the Fokker 70/100 does not have a vc in the FS9 version, does it at least have the side, out the cockpit window views. I have had a few that have views out the PAX windows with nothing in the cockpit.
il88pp
I'll have a look at that plane I mentioned (if I still have it) and see if I can figure out how those 2D side views are done. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dutchman2
Found a review that clears up the side view issue for the DA Fokker 70-100; "2D panel and passenger window view is it - very basic". So, could I grab the side views from a Freeware Fokker 70-100 and "splice" them into the DA Fokker 70-100?

dutchman2
Maybe not in FSX, but in FS9 that's how the Skydecks 737NG views were done. My main concern would be all the miscellaneous settings to get it to sync up with the forward view. Going to give it a try on two freeware planes I have. One has no views and the the other is complete with the side view - both FS9 issue. If it works, then the Flight 1 folks got an F70/100 sale. tgibson_new
If you can find relevant BMP images for the cockpit views (derived from a plane with a VC or from a real plane, etc.) then you can add them in FS9 to any plane that does not have a VC. Just find one that already has it and copy the Fixed Windows sections (present in at least three locations in the file) and paste them into the same locations in the new cfg file. If done properly (and you include the images in the panel folder) they should show up. Here is an example of mine: Top section: [Window Titles] Window00=Main Panel Window01=Overhead Panel Window02=GPS Window03=Minipanel Window04=Fuel Planner Window05=Pilot Notepad Window06=FE Notepad Fixed Window31=FORWARD_RIGHT.bmp Fixed Window32=RIGHT.bmp Fixed Window33=REAR_RIGHT.BMP Fixed Window34=REAR.BMP Fixed Window35=REAR_LEFT.bmp Fixed Window36=LEFT.bmp Fixed Window37=FORWARD_LEFT.bmp Fixed Window38=FORWARD_UP.bmp VIEWS section: VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_WINDOWS=31 VIEW_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_WINDOWS=33 VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=34 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=35 VIEW_LEFT_WINDOWS=36 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_WINDOWS=37 VIEW_FORWARD_UP_WINDOWS=38 Windows section: //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window31] file=FORWARD_RIGHT.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=31 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window32] file=RIGHT.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=32 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window33] file=REAR_RIGHT.bmp size_mm=1024 window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=33 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window34] file=REAR.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=34 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window35] file=REAR_LEFT.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=35 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window36] file=LEFT.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=36 render_3d_window=1 nomenu=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window37] file=FORWARD_LEFT.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=37 render_3d_window=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 //-------------------------------------------------------- [Fixed Window38] file=FORWARD_UP.bmp window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7 visible=0 ident=38 render_3d_window=1 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 your BMP file names may be different.
