Time for a hardware upgrade...

Hi all,

I currently run FSX on my PC relatively smoothly, although settings aren't anywhere near maxed out. Additionally, I always consider using FPS friendly add-ons which limits my choice in a many instances.

My current PC hardware setup is as follows;

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3

Processor: AMD FX 4100 Quad-Core (3.6GHz)

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6770

Memory: 16GB RAM

However, now that I am becoming more serious with flying on FSX, I'd like to heavily upgrade some components in order to max-out visual performance and maintain a high frame rate, even with system-heavy areas of scenery and aircraft.

I'm not particularly good with knowing about hardware and what I should be looking for. With a little research I have found the following upgrades that seem to be very decent;

Processor: AMD 9590 (4.7GHz)

Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 960 or 980

Last but not least, budget isn't a huge factor in this decision. I'd much rather pay out for something that is going to perform well, and last me a fair amount of time as opposed to being in this situation in another three or four years.

I really hope someone on this great forum can point me in a more precise direction as to what I should be looking at.

Many thanks in advance,

Josh
