recon14192
I am currently unable to get the Honeywell FMC to install properly. I followed the directions as stated in the text file. I added a window for it in the panel.cfg, and I placed the .CAB file in the gauges folder. For some reason though it will not show up in my aircraft. I have gotten it to work in my B737-800, but it will not show up in my crj700. I am running FSXSE on Windows 10. I am including links to my panel.cfg files for the 737 and crj700 if you want to make edits. I am also copying and pasting them in this post for you to view. The 737 has spanish in the cfg I think because I was trying to install the upgraded cockpit but it woudl not install properly either. The one thing missing in the VC was the FMC b737: http://www.mediafire.com/download/9eoc600wfaek9j9/b737+panel.cfg crj700:http://www.mediafire.com/download/d3chpk0n01xngu0/crj700panel.cfg BOEING 737-800 STARTS BELOW ; Localized 09/08/2006 04:53 PM (GMT) 4:4.2.169 panel.cfg ;/ Panel Configuration file ;/ Boeing 737-800 ;/ Copyright © 1999-2003 Microsoft Corporation. mrzippy
Why do you have 2 entries for the FMC....window9 and window10? How are you going about trying to see the FMC. No Shift+10. Eliminate the 2nd entry for each aircraft. Each would be seen by going to View/Instrument panel/FMC. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! il88pp
And there's one more there... -The [Window05] of the crj contains the Honeywell gauge also! -I suggest you compare the list at the top: Window01= Window02= etc etc to each [WindowXX] section. -Also look in each [WindowXX] section at the line: ident= You want the idents to be correct. The Window= lines at the top must match with the idents. BUT, they must NOT be identical. And you don't want two the exact same ident= lines in your file. No two the same Window= lines either. recon14192
The way I am seeing the FMC is by hitting alt and then on the bar across the screen I click view. On the drop down menu, I click instrument panel. I then click FMC. The hotkeys do not work. Shift+9 does not bring up the FMC. It brings up the original window in the default 737. recon14192
I was doing multiple in order to see if it would work with a different window area. I also never backed up the original cfg, so I'm kinda in a bind there. Can you elaborate more on the matching but not identical? Can I put anything there as long as it contains FMC? il88pp
[Window02] is the default GPS -------------------------------- I would change: Window05=Standy PFD to Window05=FMC_1 And in [Window05] section, change: ident=GPS_PANEL // change if you keep your GPS window to ident=FMC1_Panel I would change: Window09=FMC to Window09=FMC_2 And in [Window09] section, keep: ident=502 same as it is now. I would change: Window10=FMC to Window10=FMC_3 And in [Window10] section, change: ident=FMC_Panel to ident=FMC3_Panel ----- I think that would make each popup show. As far as I see the 3 FMC's are the same. So you should see the same Honeywell each time. WHeter you pop up FMC_1, FMC_2, or FMC_3. Once that works, decide which one to remove. ------------------- If after these edits the FMC still won't pop up, then make sure you did install the gauge in the panel folder (or the main ..\FSX\Gauges foder). If it's missing, the gauge can't show. --------------- I think the main problem with the file you had was that you had "ident=GPS_Panel" two times. il88pp
There is another reference to "GPS" that you need to change. In [Window08] section, change: ident=GPS_PANEL // change if you keep your GPS window to: ident=502 ------------------------------------------------------------ That means something I said before needs a change again now as well. In [Window09] we already had: ident=502 change it to: ident=FMC2_Panel ---------------------------------------------------------- Your [Window03] is also wrong. (the line at the top is ok) Change the [Window03] section to: [Window03] size_mm=560,356 position=0 visible=0 BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0 ident=THROTTLE_PANEL gauge00=Bombardier_CRJ_700!popup_ecu, 0, 40 ------------------------------------------------------- [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

recon14192
I deleted the panel.cfg and then used verify integrity of game cache in order to restore it to the original default panel.cfg. I replaced only 1 window section in the panel.cfg this time with the code given in the honeywell FMC instructions. I am still unable to get it to work. StringBean
For the record, what you put in the [Window Titles] section is what shows up when you click on Instrument Panel on the Views menu. It will also be in the Title Bar if you undock the Window. This can be anything you want, windownn=Kitchen Sink will work. The ident= line is used to open the Windows with a SimIcon. There is limited options for what goes here and something like ident=FMC2_Panel is inappropriate. That entry will not hurt anything, it is not what that entry is intended for. The sim recognizes a certain range of numbers for that entry, and a specific set of phrases that can be used in lieu of numbers. This table shows the predefined codes, and the range for user defined codes... I have seen entries outside of that range that worked fine, I suspect that range was set to insure that future Microsoft releases would not interfere with user scripted SimIcons. For the ident= line you would drop the IDENT_. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. StringBean
I see that the list in the sim menu is the default list and does not match what you have in your panel.cfg. This suggests that you might be suffering from Windows permission issues as a result of having the sim in the Program Files folder. Try this, copy the panel.cfg to your Desktop and edit. Save, then copy it back to your panel folder. Also, make sure you are not trying to edit that file with the sim running and that plane selected. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? il88pp
The screenshot still says: STANDBY PFD in the drop-down list. That is the old name for Window05 It means you have not reloaded your plane after you changed the panel.cfg. It should now say, with the panel.cfg file you posted last: FMC ---------- Close FSX. Then start it again and look again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

StringBean
So if I am understanding you, I should be putting 10000 for the ident= in the panel.cfg That would help insure you do not have any conflicts. Having ident=FMC_Panel is probably OK, I have not tested random text strings. That entry is probably seen by the sim as ident= In earlier posts there was reference to ident=502 502 is used by the EFIS gauge, so if you click on the EFIS in the VC you would normally get the EFIS popup. If you use ident=502 for the FMC, clicking on the EFIS in the VC will bring up the FMC. Additionally, do you know of a way I might be able to fix the permissions issue? Can I change my user permissions, so I won't have to worry about this in future? Have you verified this is the problem? As you have FSX:Steam, if I were you I would back up any changes I had made to FSX, uninstall FSX:Steam thru the Steam client, then reinstall to a location outside of the Program Files folder. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? I know I have similar style problems like when I change an aircraft.cfg to add a different livery even though I just copy and paste the given code into the aircraft.cfg it still often does not show up when I go to select an aircraft. I have mostly started just over writing the files for the white texture for my default aircraft when I want to add a different skin. Additionally, Im still not getting the FMC to show up in the drop down menu you access from the top of the screen as shown in my earlier screenshot. It still only lists the default list. Nothing is changing. I dont understand how clicking the EFIS will bring up the FMC with the ident=502 if it still does not list the FMC.

Another symptom of suffering from permissions issues. Having FS in Program Files can cause all sorts of problems, which is why it has been recommended by many to not install it there. Additionally, Im still not getting the FMC to show up in the drop down menu you access from the top of the screen as shown in my earlier screenshot. If you are having permissions problems, this is not a surprise. I dont understand how clicking the EFIS will bring up the FMC with the ident=502 if it still does not list the FMC. It won't. That will only happen once you get the FMC installed and working. Can you confirm you have the FMC working in the B738? peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? il88pp
leave the ident for EFIS as 502, use something else for the FMC section. --------------------------------------------------------- But, if that is really what your panel.cfg file looks like when you open it. (and it was not already open) then the other screen can not be the correct drop down menu. The panel.cfg has: Window05=FMC and the drop down has as sixth entry: STANDBY PFD So the plane that is loaded at the time must be using a different panel.cfg file. -Is there perhaps a different panel folder in use? Perhaps you use different panel folders for different paints? -Do you perhaps have a second copy of the crj-700 in your aircraft folder. Are you using the plane you think you are? -Do you perhaps have two copies of fsx?? Check where the FSX shortcut goes to. Correct folder? Because with that panel.cfg file, that screenshot drop down does not match. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I am going to try moving my install and see if that fixes the issue. Can I just move the folder, or do I have to delete it and reinstall fsx? Update: I have deleted all of my FSX files and reinstalled FSX with a fresh install. I have installed it outside of program files into a file called FSX in a folder called steam on my C drive. FSX currently refuses to start. I get no splash screen, nothing. I am verifying integrity of game cahce and then I will try adding the 4gb patch to see if it fixes. recon14192
Latest Update I have moved FSX so it is no longer in the program files directory. I made the proper edits, and I still am not able to get it to work. Additioanlly I am still unable to get my downloaded textures to appear in FSX even with the edited airplane.cfg

That repaint and .cfg change are both fine! This won't have an affect on your FMC problem. At this time I would recommend An FSX-SE Integrity check to verify your Sim is OK. Right click on FSX in your library and select 'properties' under the local files section there's an option to 'check integrity of local files' or something similar if you click that Steam wil look at your FSX folders and replace/repair any files that are corrupt or missing. recon14192
That repaint and .cfg change are both fine! [ATTACH=CONFIG]191087[/ATTACH] This won't have an affect on your FMC problem. At this time I would recommend An FSX-SE Integrity check to verify your Sim is OK. I know they are fine. Before I just copied the files into the texture folder for the crj white texture since it would not work. If you reference my picture above, you will see that even though it is fine it is not appearing in my fsx when I go to select an aircraft. When you say Integrity check, do you mean verifying the integrity of the game cache option via steam? I have done that before as stated, but I will try it again. If you have any additional advice that is helpful or could be the issue please let me know.
