Setup for FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am thinking of buying this PC:

AMD FX 8350 8-core 8x4.0ghz

Gigabyte FX990

GeForce GTX 960 2gb

Coolermaster B600 (600 watt)

Coolermaster Hyper 103 cooler

I have a couple of SSD`s that i would build into this system and i would use Windows 7 64 bit as the OS

So how would FSX perform on this setup, with mostly medium settings?

Thanks in advance

total weight (fan plus heatsink) of that cooler is 580 grams.

Max weight for cooler in specs of mainboard is 450 grams.

(I must say 450 grams seems low to me, but, that's what it says.)

With that weight limit I think you would be forced to use a liquid cooler. They have only a small part contacting the cpu, then that is connected through tubing to the fan.

The fan and radiator are mounted like a case fan.

Something like this:

(is just one example)

No idea about performance of the total pc.

You want the fastest CPU for a sim since the sim is CPU orientated. Meaning a lot of processing comes from the CPU and not the GPU.

With that AMD would be a poor choice as Intel has been faster. But if your on a budget that's fine. Go with what you can afford.

As to the cooler. If the Cooler Master Hyper 212 is compatible go with that. The 212 will even work in the latest Intel Skylake CPUs.
