Help on trying to edit a .xml file

I use Glenn Copeland's excellent 4th Hand gauge which automatically retracts the aircraft landing gear after take-off and will automatically extend it before landing.

It has a delay altitude default value of 1400 feet and for every flight I must manually adjust the gauge icon to my desired altitude of 2000 feet.

I find an .xml file in this gauge folder which has the 1400 value listed as follows:

1400 (>L:4thHand_AltCorr, number)

Have tried to change this value to 2000 but find that I do not have access for typing in the new desired value.

In my limited knowledge I am wondering if .xml files are editable and, if so, what program could be used to accomplish it.

Any assistance will be very much appreciated for my progress/liberation from the current repetitive manual adjustment for every flight.

Thanks.

Just found a possible solution to my query in ils88p thread of 12-20-2015 at 10:39 which I will be promptly using.

Thanks a lot Jim and il88p, for your assistance.

Notepad has allowed me to edit the gauge, as intended.

Embarassing to confess but my copy of il88p's post in "12-20-2015 at 10:39" did not register and I have not located it again in the forum. Was I dreaming or did it really exist?...

Have a good weekend.

Just for future information, there is a dedicated forum here cleverly disguised with the silly name of "Panel & Gauge Design" ;)

Yeah, but do 'they' know anything about FSX Acceleration? (heehee-couldn't resist).
