cat
When I take off in my PIC 737 500 Evolution, I set traffic on the instrument dial, TA only appears on the EHSI panel, but then immediately disappears after take-off! No traffic ever appears on the panel, even though I have plenty of Ultimate Traffic 2 aircraft visible at the airports & taking off! Any ideas on how to get them to appear on the EHSI panel? Thx! MBKHOU
Don't know.. It's been so long since I flew the classic 737's, I don't know what is different from the NG's. And the classics I flew were not too realistic, so likely useless anyway... On the NG, I have to set the TCAS panel to TA or TA/RA. That panel is on the center radio console. And then turn on the display from the EFIS panel, which the traffic button is the middle of the ND range dial. I don't have any classic 737's on this sim to see how they compare. MBKHOU
Yes did all that. Still no traffic appears! Anyone? Thx MBK Curious.. Are you showing any indications that the TCAS is working on the display? In the NG, you see it in blue letters on the lower left side of the ND. In TA/RA, you see "TFC". I think in TA mode, you see "TA ONLY" if I remember right. I usually run TA/RA. An example during a run to KOKC the other night. You see the TFC in blue. Looks like there was six planes near me in that shot. All 10k or more feet below me. I was up at FL400.. The WXR above the TFC was the wx radar mode, and the -2A shows the radar tilt was on automatic, and the tilt was -2 below 0. Slightly downward, but not a whole lot. cat
No TCAS on display. I'm running TA/RA! Any other ideas? Pete
MBKHOU
No TCAS on display. I'm running TA/RA! Any other ideas? Pete Hummm... Does that plane support the TCAS test? IE: you press the middle button of the TCAS mode selector switch on the radio console. In the NG, when you press that test button, you will see the red guidance indications on the PFD, and when it get's through with the tests, it will say "TCAS test passed" when done, assuming all is well.. Of course, you don't have the same PFD as the NG, but I would think the TCAS system should still do it's tests. Kinda sounds like a TCAS issue if no indications on the display. BTW.. I was just thinking.. No indication on display. You sure you have "TFC" set on the display via the display controls? If not, that could cause that also. But I don't know if the classic EFIS control panel is the same as the NG.. The traffic display button being the inside button on the ND range control on the NG. Is that the same on the classic? Also, when you turn that on, you usually see a close range range ring on the display. On the NG, if you have range rings programmed in the planes software, those will turn on. But SWA does not use those, and thus I don't much either on any of mine. So I will only see the real close single range ring when TFC is enabled. mjrhealth
Need to set Transponder to Ta or TA RA than TCAs will go from off to whatever mode you have selected. MBKHOU
Need to set Transponder to Ta or TA RA than TCAs will go from off to whatever mode you have selected. He says he has that set. TA/RA on the last posts.. But he says he sees no indication on the display. I did some looking around for 737 classic EHSI examples showing traffic, but could only find a couple. Both showed "TFC" in green on the display, but no diamonds were showing as traffic. Of course, the TCAS warnings will go off, display or not, but he's trying to get them to show on the display like they show on the 737NG's nav display. Is there a EFIS or similar control to set the traffic display "TFC" on the 737 classic? Like I say, I don't have the 737 classic on my sim, so nothing to go by in that regard. Been a long time since I flew the 300 and 500's, and back then I didn't have TCAS modeled at all as I remember.
cat
Apparently in PIC737 Evolution, the button doesn't work in either the VC or 2D panels, so you have to assign it to a keyboard input in the configuration utility. Anyone know how I do this assignment? Pete

Anyone know how I do this assignment? Pete If the plane/panel doesn't support it, I doubt you would be able to do that. There is no default FSX command for that type thing. Or that I know of anyway.. What is weird is why it would show on the ground, but go away after takeoff..
mjrhealth
You can ass keys in teh wilco configuration utility, keyboard tab, The only option is to ad above or below to teh tcas, that knob does work on the transponder panel. cat
All seems to be working well now! Thx! All I need to know now, is to how to change the distance to view traffic, on the Captain's instrument panel. It only appears on the co-pilot's panel, when I turn the distance knob, which does not show the necessary green TCAS sign. Any ideas of how to change the Captain's panel screen?
