About This File

Payware Red Wing L-1049G Super Constellation is needed.

This repaint shows Alaska Airlines Lockheed L-1049H Super Constellation N7777C with c/n 4803 in its paint scheme of 1966. Delivered in 1956 to Qantas as VH-EAN "Southern Tide". Cancelled from Australian Register on sale to Air New Mex Inc. as N7777C in July 1962. Leased to Alaska Airlines in 1964. Change of ownership to International Aerodyne Inc although lease to Alaska Airlines continued.

In April 1967 aircraft crashed at Kotzebue-Wien Memorial Airport, AK. The approach to was completed in whiteout conditions with a very limited visibility. Following a 'normal' approach, the airplane belly landed and slid for few hundred yards before coming to rest. All 32 occupants were evacuated uninjured while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair. Probable cause: The crew failed to follow the approach check-list and forgot to lower the landing gear, causing the airplane to make a wheels-up landing.

Noted 1978 at Kotzebue complete with wings and tail on a mound of earth. Still in Alaska Airlines colours but with titles "The Flying Martini Inc" being used as a bar. Finally scrapped in September 1980.

Please note:

Red Wing L-1049 V2.5 is needed. With gray cockpit style. Please delete all prior Alaska N7777C repaints before installing this one.
