I was just informed by a friend in the Marines that the WWII Airfield "Tinian North Field" has been restored. The Marine Aircraft Group 12 and Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, returned to Tinian Island on May 12, 2012 to restore the North Field Airfield. In less than 72 hours they had cleared the over-growth and reconditioned the 2 main runways "Able" & "Baker". After which the Air Force landed several C130's. And they even had an aircraft arresting system operational and landed 13 F18's with even the FIRST EVER night arrestor operations at a FOB (Forward Operations Base). Hats off to the Marine Aircraft Group 12 and Marine Wing Support Squadron 171....WELL DONE YOU GUYS!!! God Bless the United States Military!
