/images/notams/notams22/nmg1205.jpgIt is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another year, and it has been quite a year too! Our selection of airports forMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2020 has grown even more this year! Salesfor this new Flight Simulator has proven that it is a favourite amongnew users. This is also the time when we need to say goodbye to three FlightSimulator packages: Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Prepar3D v4 andX-Plane 10. These packages have served us well, but it is time to moveon. The airports we have designed for these packages will remain onsale via our website and we will continue to provide limited supportfor them, but there will be no more updates for these airports, or anynew airports designed for them. As a matter of fact, the last time wereleased any updates for these packages was two years ago! X-Plane 12 is still in early access, but as soon as it isofficially released, we will be adjusting our airports for thatplatform as well. From next year we will move forward with Microsoft Flight Simulator2020, Prepar3D v5 and X-Plane 11 and 12. The bulk of airports as wellas the majority of the updates will be for Microsoft Flight Simulator2020 as this is the platform that is the clear fan favourite amongusers. The number of sales generated by Microsoft Flight Simulator2020 overshadow all the other flight simulator packages we designairports for by far and it will be stupid for us to neglect such asopportunity! As for the festive season, we will be around to answer questionsand provide support, but obviously not on Christmas Day and New Year! Please expect responses on email to be slow from the 16thonwards. Bloemfontein Airport will be the last airport we will releasefor this year and we will not be starting any new projects until nextyear. Now there is only one thing left to do and that is to wish all ofyou a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! If you will be on theroads this year, then please drive carefully and stay safe. /images/notams/notams22/nmg1004.jpgWe are receiving a lot of questions about this lately. It is important to remember that although X-Plane 12 is for sale,it is still in early access; development is still ongoing. Ourairports may therefore or may not work with this early version ofX-Plane. Usually, our airports are fully compatible with the next version, except for any special features that may have been added. In the caseof X-Plane 11, our airports for X-Plane 10 worked flawlessly with it,except for the ground service vehicles, which were not present. We have hoped that the same would be true for X-Plane 12, but thereports we have received so far indicates all kinds of bleed troughsand funny effects. This may change as development of X-Plane 12continues. There are also no design tools available to fix these airports forX-Plane 12 at this stage. Just like us, the developers of these toolsare probably also waiting for X-Plane 12 to go off early access beforespending time to upgrade their programs for the latest version. Thisis understandable as you don’t want to keep on fixing something thatcould have been fixed only once! If you intend on buying X-Plane 12, just remember that it is notfixed yet and that you are going to be a beta tester for LaminarResearch until the definitive version comes out. We have not decided if we are going to make our airports compatiblewith this version of not. Sales for X-Plane scenery is exceptionallylow, and it is not going to be worth the trouble if we are going tohave to re-design all the airports as in the case of MSFS. X-Plane issaturated with freeware, and this makes commercial developmentexceedingly difficult and not worth investing money into. Source

/images/notams/notams22/nmg0910/cape-town-1.jpgWe have been working on Cape Town International Airport forMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2020 for a while now. Unfortunately, the airport is not ready for release yet, but wehave made quite a lot of progress since we have started. The screenshots show some of the areas of the airport that are near completion,or which have been completed already. There is quite a lot of workthat still needs to be done, but we hope to have this package readysometime in October of 2020. /images/notams/notams22/nmg0910/cape-town-2.jpg /images/notams/notams22/nmg0910/cape-town-3.jpg /images/notams/notams22/nmg0910/cape-town-4.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams22/nmg0801.jpgIt is with pleasure that we announce the release of George Airportfor Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020! George Airport (FAGG) was built in 1977 as an exact replica ofKeetmanshoop Airport in Namibia. It is a relatively small but busy andefficient enterprise. George Airport is situated 7.8 Km (4.8 Mi) fromthe town of George which is a city in South Africa’s Western Capeprovince. As always, we try to design the airport as close to the real one aspossible. We have also added PBR Texturing to all the buildings! Thelayout in terms of runway, taxiway and hangars is accurate. As always, if you have bought this airport for FSX, Prepar3D orX-Plane before, then you qualify for an upgrade discount to thisversion. Source

Kimberley is thecapital of the Northern Cape Province and is located near theconfluence of the Vaal and Orange rivers. The town is most famous forthe "Big Hole", a landmark carved into the earth by early diamondprospectors. As always, we try to go as close to the real airport as we possiblycan. We have also added PBR Texturing to all the buildings! The layoutin terms of runway, taxiway and hangars is accurate. /images/notams/notams22/nmg0620.jpgThe Kitty Hawk Aerodrome was established as a Sectional TitleScheme in 1997 by the then owner of the ground where Kitty Hawk issituated. He envisioned an Aero Estate with houses adjacent to therunway. It was decided to name the aero estate after the world-famous townKitty Hawk. However, the developer encountered financial difficultiesafter the runway and 24 hangars were completed and sold. The resultwas that the land where houses would have been built was sold as aseparate entity from the aerodrome. The new Board of Trustees established in 2003 continued thedevelopment to what is today the Kitty Hawk Aerodrome. A place whereaviators come together and “live their passion for flying true to thespirit of the Wright brothers at Kitty Hawkâ€. As always, we try to go as close to the real airport as we possiblycan. We have also added PBR Texturing to all the buildings! The layoutin terms of runway, taxiway and hangars is accurate. Source

New Tempe Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Released
Nels_Anderson posted an article in HN
/images/notams/notams22/nmg0528.jpg New Tempe Airport is situated 10km (6.6 miles) north-northwest from the Bloemfontein City Centre. The airport consists of two asphalt runways as well as two glider strips and taxi/micro-light landing strips next to the main runways. The facility offers hangars and airstrips for light to medium sized aeroplanes, helicopters, micro-lights, gyrocopters, and high-altitude gliders. The airstrip is in uncontrolled airspace and the general flying area is just a five-minute flight to the north. Due to the excellent year-round flying conditions, it is ideal for training purposes. As always, we try to go as close to the real airport as we possibly can. We have also added PBR Texturing to all the buildings! The layout in terms of runway, taxiway and hangars is accurate. AVGAS is available at the airport. All you must do is to part your aircraft next to the refuelling depo on the main apron. The dirt marks on the apron will be a good indicator where to park! Source -
/images/notams/notams20/nmg0924.jpgAfter a lot of consideration, we have decided to step away fromMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2020 for the immediate future. We do realize that this is not good news, but Microsoft FlightSimulator 2020 is plagued with just too many bugs. Right now, patchesare being pushed out to fix bugs in the program and those fixes arebreaking things in the program that was not broken before. This isforcing Microsoft to release even more patches just to fix things thatwas not even broken originally. Every patch that comes out is notsmall either. We are talking about an average of 16Gb per patch andall these downloads are adding up! The Scenery Development Kit (SDK) that was released with MicrosoftFlight Simulator 2020 is, to use a single word, pathetic! The SDK iswhat Microsoft is expecting us to use to design scenery for FlightSimulator 2020, but it is impossible to make sense of theinstructions. The instructions are unclear and much of the informationhave simply been left out for the users to figure it out on theirown. We have been able to build a simple airport by adding the airportentry, a runway, and an apron, but we cannot add custom buildings. TheSDK discusses aircraft modelling, but not scenery modelling. Thesection that is supposed to discuss how lighting works so that we canadd apron lights to our airports just states TO-DO! Microsoft stillneed to write the instructions for that! We have saved our test airport, but we cannot compile it into a BGLfile for you to use. This seem to be a common problem and many peopleare plagued by this. It could be related to the latest buggy patchthat was released a few days ago. We cannot load the airport tocontinue working on it either! The “load project†function does notwork! Even if we can compile an airport to a BGL file, we have no ideahow the end user is going to install it. The “Community†folder thatMicrosoft has created for the purpose is hidden inside the users“AppData†folder and it is highly unlikely that anyone who does nothave a sound knowledge of Windows 10 will ever find it. You will beable to buy our airports but installing it will be impossible formost. With this in mind, we have decided to give Microsoft FlightSimulator 2020 a rest for now. Hopefully, Microsoft will be able tofix all the bugs and maybe we will get a better way to design airportsfor it in the process. For now, we will continue to design airportsfor Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Prepar3D and X-Plane. At least theinstructions for these are clear enough for us to work with! Are you still going to do scenery for Flight Simulator 2020? Yes, that is our intention, but just not right now. We can onlyhope that Microsoft will fix Flight Simulator 2020 and update the SDKto something that is more user friendly. We are hoping for somethinglike what they had from Flight Simulator 5 onward. The same methodthat was so successful that it was ported over to both X-Plane andPrepar3D. Is there a time-frame available for when scenery will be available? Not right now unfortunately. We are highly dependent on the movesMicrosoft makes with their product and only time will tell what willhappen next. If you are a user of Prepar3D or X-Plane, then we highlyrecommend that you continue with that. Those are stable FlightSimulator platforms that work. /images/notams/notams18/shak0621.jpg King Shaka International Airport (FALE) was conceptualized in the1960's when it was realized that the old Louis Botha/DurbanInternational airport (FADN), to the south of Durban, would soon reachits capacity. Construction began in 1973 and by 1975 the earthworks and a stormdrainage system to the value of R320 million were completed. By 1982,the project was halted due to the economic slowdown. A local Microlight club made use of the grassed over runway. The new airport wasnamed La Mercy Airport (FALE) after the town of La Mercy located fivekilometers east of the airport. Construction at the airport site recommenced on the 24 August 2007and the airport was opened on the 1st of May 2010.
