The idea of this thread is that you can use it to announce that you are working on a scenery. Just to let other developers know that an airport, city or region is in development. That way hopefully we won't work on the same addons without knowing it. If you want to show the work in progress of your scenery, you can do that in here.

2023 Route 66 Aerial Rally Official Sponsor Suc-A-Lux Vacuums “It they don’t suc, it really blows." The 2023 inaugural rally will take place starting November 1st. The official end will be no later than November 30th or upon completion of the route by all contestants if sooner. The rally is open to any flight simulation platform, with emphasis towards legacy versions of MSFS (FS98, FS2004, FSX). The primary focus is to showcase the aircraft and scenery of these legacy programs. However, all others are also welcome to participate (MSFS2020, X-Plane, etc.). This rally will follow the historic US Route 66 from Lansing Illinois to Santa Monica California. Participants will fly 1646 miles, visit 11 airports, traverse 7 States, cross 3 time-zones, all while vying for the coveted Suc-A-Lux Trophy. Route 1. Lansing Municipal IL (KIGQ) CTAF 122.7 Rwy. 9/27 18/38 Elev. 620 2. Zelmer Memorial IL (5K1) CTAF 122.9 Rwy. 18/36 Elev. 663 3. Jones Lebanon MO (KLBO) CTAF 122.8 Rwy. 18/36 Elev. 1321 4. We are attempting to recreate the feeling of the golden age of General Aviation. J-2 Talor Craft through DC-3 or Boeing 247, there is an amazing number of wonderful classics we look forward to participating in this rally. In addition to the “as delivered” and “off the shelf” paint schemes that are always a pleasure to see, we encourage custom repaints, with various colors and personal or rally sponsor logos. Weather/Winds You decide the time of day/night, the weather, and winds for your flight. Entrant Requirements 1) Select and appropriate aircraft. 2) Determine your weather/winds/time of day. 3) Develop flight planning for the route with your planned route times. 4) Submit an on the ground (grass, runway, ramp) photo of your entry aircraft (engine off). 5) Submit a copy of your flight planning. On the days you are flying: 6) Route time for each leg begins when you roll for take-off, and ends at a full stop on landing. If you are not stopping at any airport, you must still overfly that field. Record the time when directly over the field as the end time of one leg and the start time of the next. 7) Take lots of screenshots from taxi to takeoff, enroute, landing and parked for a fuel stop. Poetic license is valued as we all “enhance” our flight with stories and antidotes, sea-stories, and exaggerations. Have fun as your adventure develops. Scoring will be done in a simple and fair manner. Record your route time for each leg/segment. Note the difference in minutes between your planned flight time and your actual time. Minutes ahead or behind planned are considered the same, difference from your planned time. Add together your ten leg time differences. The entrant with the least amount of time from planned will be the “winner.” 9) HAVE FUN!!! This is all being done on the honor system. So whatever you state was your times, that's what counts. Navigational Assistance 1) GPS direct route to visually assist along your route. 2) Time compression along your route, if time recorded is the same as without time compression. 3) Autopilot for wing leveler and altitude hold. In keeping with this period of aircraft autopilot for routing. 4) Try to use navigational equipment as close as possible to the time period, no FMS, glass cockpits, GPS only, etc. If you are going to use ground based navigational stations, please use VOR and NDB/ADF only. Share your experiences As your flight progresses, share occasional pictures and stories on the Route 66 Air Rally thread on FlightSim. Share the fun!!! Example Picture/Flight Plan Submittal Here is the proposed entrant aircraft and flight planning for PhrogPhlyer, who will be utilizing FSX and a custom rally paint scheme. We ask that each entrant submit something similar.

Hi, fellow FS9-ers. As you most probably know, Mike Stone's web site became defunct around 2012. Fortunately, you can download a collection of 107 of his creations in one aircraft collection archive file. It was uploaded by Robin Meyerowitz and is available on simviation. However, there are at least 9 aircraft missing from this collection - all FS9 aircraft Mike Stone created around 2011. They are not on any web site - presumably lost for ever! Does anyone have them? Here is the original description (from a defunct archive) of the "lost" aircraft: North American B-25J WWII medium bomber. Beyond the attention drawn by the famous Doolittle raid on Japan, the B-25 Mitchell served as an extremely capable and versatile aircraft throughout the war. Rugged and reliable, it's crews loved it, as much as the Axis powers hated it. This package contains several detailed repaints, thankfully provided by Garry J. Smith. StoneAir Streak The Streak is a mid size passenger aircraft, designed to cruise at mach 3 at 50,000 and above. It sports a unique telescoping nose probe, designed to significantly reduce the sonic boom signature. StoneAir Stumpy The world's first wide body corporate jet. Can double as a regional jet. StoneAir Lift King This is my concept of a super sized cargo plane to replace the C-5 Galaxy. A massive aircraft with a two cargo decks. With fully blown flaps, it still needs a substantial runway to take off, but no more so than any other large body aircraft. The concept involves the ability to transport a entire combat unit and all its equipment in a single load. StoneAir Wind Ride This is my concept of a wide body airliner in the 777/A330 class. It features steeply swept, rear mounted wings, with forward mounted canards for pitch control. It has four high bypass fanjet engines mounted under the wings. StoneAir Puddle Jumper This is my rendition of a Boeing concept aircraft. The design is intended to satisfy the military's requirement for the ATT (Advanced Theater Transport). Boeing originally considered a true VTOL design, essentially an enlarged Osprey. But that proved impractical and they settled on a STOL design utilizing a tilting main wing. StoneAir Whisper The StoneAir Whisper is my concept of a medium size passenger jet, in the 737/A320 class. The rear mounted wings are configured to shield the high mounted twin engines from the ground, reducing its noise signature. It is designed for use in inner city and other environments where noise abatement is an issue. Israeli Air Industry Arava The IAI Arava is a small, yet versatile cargo plane, with excellent short field capability. The Miles Aerovan, of which Israel has used several, is believed to be the basis for this design. The resemblance is pretty obvious. Israel Air Industry Westwind 2 When Rockwell took over the Aero Commander company, they had no desire to continue production of the 1120 Jet Commander, as it competed directly with their own Sabreliner. Israeli Aircraft Industries acquired the rights to the Jet Commander and used it as the basis for the Westwind. They stretched the fuselage, increased the takeoff weight, and equipped it with more powerful engines. The aircraft was highly successful, remaining in production for 20 years, until IAI switched production to the Astra.

A new item has been uploaded to flighsim by Howard (1biggles1). https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fsec=0&fname=tnw2019_free.zip I think it's wonderful that people like Howard are still dedicating their time to improve and sustain FS2004! There is a discussion at the bottom of the page. It would be good if people provided feedback. Paul

For the flyable Ilyushin Il-18D model by NAVYNK. Completed version available HERE. Notice that I have added an additional files: aircraft.cfg and .air file. You have to transfer .air into your Il-18D package and replace it. Then copy all notes from my aircraft.cfg and paste into the same file of your package after deleting all sections except [fltsim] notes. That files contain more correct Il-18D and AI-20M dynamics. FS2004 Scenery - Borealis Operations Center. Borealis is a fictional scenery located far north on Banks Island, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is Aeroworks-Technologies' (ARX) primary northern operations hub supporting the ARX TR-3B, REDACTED, REDACTED reconnaissance missions, and northern orbit-based satellite launches. Borealis also acts as a test facility, much like Groom Lake, or Tonopah Test Range in the real world, but specializes in cold weather testing for Aeroworks projects. Scenery by Joshua B. Nyhus.-

The Tu-4 with serial number 2805103 built in Kuibyshevsky aviation plant in 1952 is the only one saved Tu-4 in Russia. A bomber is stored in Monino air museum, Moscow. In USSR was a last serial bomber equipped with reciprocating engines. Perhaps this "01 red" sent to Budapest in 1956 while Hungarian revolution, but turned back with the rest of bombers near the target. For an old WoP B-29 Superfortress model. By Kogut's Simworks. -

FS2004/FSX Callsign for LEMR La Morgal, Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) With the appropriate version of EditVoicepack installed (FS2004, FSX, or both), and inside it, you can import and install this file and many others available in the community. In this case, La Morgal will be not longer "LEMR - Lima-Echo-Mike-Romeo", but you'll read "La Morgal" and you'll hear something like [lamor'gal]. By Felix Fernandez de Castro -
