/images/notams/notams22/iris1031.jpgThe PC-21 is a single-engine, low-wing advanced military trainer produced by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. First flown in July of 2002, the company’s “Twenty-First Century Trainer†was designed to provide levels of performance so high that pilots could conduct the majority of their training in it before switching to jet-powered craft. As a result, militaries from a number of countries use the PC-21 in their flight schools, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, and France. Source

/images/notams/notams22/iris0728.jpgIt's with a heavy heart that we must announce the ceasing offurther development on the IRIS ATF product. Top Mach Studios have recently released their new F-22 product, which is a superb replication of the F-22 Raptor aircraft. In ouropinion, to continue development on our aircraft would not be in ourbest interest and instead we'll focus on the Pilatus PC-9 and PC-24moving forwards. Best wishes to the team at Top Mach Studios from us here at IRISand we hope they have every success with their debut commercialproduct! They'll have a purchase from me, for sure! /images/notams/notams21/iris0829.jpgA favorite of the Royal Air Force University Air Squadrons (UAS)and Air Experience Flights (AEF), the Tutor has seen many of thecadets in the UK Air Training Corps experience their first flights andtake steps towards becoming flight crew in the Royal Air Force. Designed to execute pilot screening, elementary flight training(EFT) and aerobatics manoeuvres. The robust landing gear designallowed the aircraft to accomplish harsh training even in the worstclimatic conditions. Able to execute VFR training during day or night and IFR trainingin non-icing conditions, the spacious cockpit of the Tutor is fittedwith two side by side seats for pilot and student, the large glasscanopy renders all round clear visibility to the crew. The primaryflight controls and switches are integrated to the right side of thecockpit to fly the aircraft with a right hand stick and a left handthrottle, which enables to transit easily to fast jet aircraft. Overall, the Tutor is a remarkable training aircraft and is a joyto fly for both student and instructor. Source

/images/notams/notams21/iris0119/iris-1.jpgIRIS Simulations have shown off some early WIP images of theirupcoming Hornet (F/A-18C) for MSFS. /images/notams/notams21/iris0119/iris-2.jpgWith the F/A-39 Vampire coming along nicely, we're now at a stageto show off something else coming this year exclusively for MSFS! The Classic Hornet (F/A-18C) will be in development once theVampire arrives and will be our first 'premium' product for the MSFSplatform this year. We had four fast movers planned over the next 24 months and the Bugpipped them all at the post (I won't say what the others are justyet!) Personally, it's my favourite fast jet (yes, even beats the Hawk)and while I know others are planning on this airframe, It's somethingwe at IRIS have wanted to do for a number of years now. More info as we progress. Source IRIS Simulations Announces F/A-39 Vampire

/images/notams/notams21/iris0114/vampire-1.jpgI feel the need for speed! Our first military jet in MSFS is aconcept aircraft! I'm not normally one for concept aircraft, but this one captured myimagination..and good god does it look good in sim. Coming from the mind of Industrial Designer, Rodrigo Avella, theF/A-39 Vampire is a sixth generation concept aircraft, fitted withinternal ordnance and directed energy weapons. Oh and, as it's concept....no complaining about rivets! /images/notams/notams21/iris0114/vampire-2.jpg /images/notams/notams21/iris0114/vampire-3.jpg /images/notams/notams21/iris0114/vampire-4.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams20/iris0425.jpgTo those flightsimmers out there who've been affected by thehorrendous COVID-19 outbreak, and following in the footsteps of otherindustry leaders, IRIS is making all our products free of charge until1st June 2020. As some of you may know, I consider myself fortunate to remain inwork outside IRIS and can work remotely. Many of you cannot, and manyhave lost jobs, family members and are 'doing it hard' as it were. If the smallest thing I can do is offer some escapism using ourproducts to those who can no longer afford what now is a luxury item, then it's the least I can do. In closing, remain safe, keep using social distancing and abide bythe laws and rules of your country to save others. ~David & Karen The IRIS webstore is available to you all Source
