/images/notams/notams21/emer0127/bear-island-1.jpgI'll just leave these right here... Yes. It's happening. Finally! Bear Island, Florida, for MSFS 2020. /images/notams/notams21/emer0127/bear-island-2.jpg /images/notams/notams21/emer0127/bear-island-3.jpgI have started my native conversion of Bear Island for MSFS. Thescenery is planned to follow the layout of the original scenery forFSX and P3D. However there will likely be some differences, dependingon what I can achieve with the SDK. To start, the imagery is the same, however it has now been upscaled from 30cm to 15cm (LOD20) using AIsoftware. All of the features handled by SODE on the other platformswill hopefully show up sooner or later. I'm hoping many of thesefeatures will appear in the first version, but as I have yet to lookinto the dynamic possibilities of MSFS, I am unsure. Source

/images/notams/notams20/emer0502.jpgEmerald Scenery Design plans to release Solomon Islands Xv0.60 tomorrow, a day later than originally planned while workingout some stubborn issues. This is an early access freeware, developed forFSX and P3D. Emerald previously announced: Since the release of Allan Island for P3D v5, I have been workingon getting the Solomon Islands all straightened out for the upcomingv0.60 update. I have experimented with sloped runways in the scenery (P3D v5only), however something isn't working quite right just yet. With thatsaid, unfortunately sloped runways will not be present in thisupdate. However, I am hoping to get them working in a futureupdate. Source

/images/notams/notams19/emer0505.jpgThe Alaskan Mesh Project: NW covers a large portion of NorthwestAlaska in a layer of 10 meter terrain mesh. Unfortunately, no 3 meterdata was available at the time of development. If any becomesavailable in the future, it will be added to this package. The Alaskan Mesh Project started out as a rainy day project with ascope to enhance the mountains around Talkeetna, Alaska. Eventually itwas decided to further expand the coverage area and release thescenery for everyone to enjoy. AMP: NW is our third release of thisproject. The Alaskan Mesh Project: Northwest (slightly) comes along the Westside of our AMP: SE coverage area. AMP: NW covers roughly 381,568 km2of NW Alaska's rugged tundra. Source

/images/notams/notams19/emer0314.jpgBuild: 031419 includes some new models that will be finding theirway into sceneries soon. Alongside the new models, this build alsoaddresses the Level of Detail (LOD) offset in the Wildflowervegetation model (Affecting the Bear Island v2 scenery). Adjustmentshave also been made to mud puddle transparency to allow more ground toshow through the puddles. SODE has been updated to the latest version and SODE librarydirectories have been reorganized to make it easier for myself to addnew models in the future. Remember to keep our object library and sceneries up to date. Usingan object library allows us to deliver core performance improvementsand some bug fixes across multiple sceneries by combining allmulti-use objects into one package. To easily stay up-to-date, you canpush the green notification bell at the bottom right of any page onour site. This will allow you to receive a push notification any timewe release an update or have noteworthy news for you. /images/notams/notams19/emer0101/emer0101.jpgA few months ago, it dawned on me that Solomon Islands X has beenin production since 2014. With today being the first day of 2019, thatmeans that this scenery has been in development for just under 5years. That's a long time for a project. However, I am only one personwith limited time, so the progress that has been made over the lastfew years is amazing for that. As we roll further into 2019, you will see several more updates tothe Solomons, improving the landscape more and more each time. A lot of time and effort has gone into this update, hopefullysetting 2019 off to a great start. Many improvements have been made tothe islands around Gizo (AGGN) and Munda (AGGM). Vector roads, trailsand streams are starting to see their way back in and a handful ofbugs have been exterminated. With that said, let's dive into some of the improvements in this update: /images/notams/notams19/emer0101/solomon-2.jpgWhat's New In v0.57?Added more LC coverage near AGGF.Added roads, trails and streams back to QMID areas 9036 and 9235.Added annotated autogen bushes to custom Landclass grass textures.Fixed a bug in QMID area 9035 where a small water poly area was inverted.Fixed an issue where new vector data did not display on in-sim maps. (When using SolX vector)Fixed an issue where default freeway cars were still visible in some areas.Updated OSM base vector data for Kolombangara island. (This data is more refined than what we originally had available)Made some accuracy improvements to new base vector, focusing on larger inaccuracies.Reworked Terrain excludes, splitting excludes into QMID regions.Updated configurator for compatibility with new exclude changes.Made some vector improvements around AGGH.Improved vector for islands near AGGN.Improved vector for many islands near and around AGGM.Minor vector improvements to Rennell Island for compatibility with roads, trails and streams.Minor vector improvements to Nendo Island for compatibility with roads, trails and streams. /images/notams/notams19/emer0101/solomon-1.jpgSolX AirportsAdded Kukudu Airport (AGKU)Added Aropa [Kieta] Airport (AYIQ)Honiara Intl /Henderson Field (AGGH)Updated radio frequencies.Adjusted positioning of hangers near helipad1.Babanakira [old] (AGGI)Removed all default information data. Emerald Scenery Design Alaskan Mesh Project Expands To Cover ORBX SAK
Nels_Anderson posted an article in FSX
/images/notams/notams18/emer0212/sak1.jpgThe Alaskan Mesh Project is expanding to cover ORBX SAK! This scenery is in the late stages of development. It will includea base layer of 10 meter mesh (Double the resolution of the currentORBX SAK mesh) with select areas in 3 meter resolution. 3 meter areascurrently include Eklunta Glacier, Valdez, a greater part of the KenaiPeninsula and the lower Matanuska Susitna river valleyarea. (Continued on from the current AMP: SE coverage area.) /images/notams/notams18/emer0212/sak2.jpgAt the same time of the SAK release, we will be pushing an updatefor the current Alaskan Mesh Project coverage area, which (BTW) shallthen be known as AMP: SE. This update will expand the 10 metercoverage area with newly released data (Courtesy of USGS) bringing thetotal coverage area to roughly 224,359 km2. Alongside this expansion,we have also reexported all of the 10 meter data as 32-bit GeoTiffsinstead of the latter 16-bit. This allows for more precisedata. Included in this update will also be a fix for the Nome Creek 3meter coverage area. This will fix an issue where a setting duringcompile caused the tops of some mountains to be cut off. Both NomeCreek and Fairbanks overage areas have also been optimized to decreasefile sizes by cropping a lot of empty data from their GeoTiffs. /images/notams/notams18/emer0212/sak3.jpgTo accommodate this new release, instead of slapping a download boxon our web site, we have decided to create a page dedicated to thisentire scenery project. This web page will include an interactive mapwhere you can see both the 3 meter and 10 meter coverage areas of allcurrent Alaskan Mesh Project releases. Alongside giving an accuratedepiction of the coverage area, this dedicated page will also keepthings organised as we add to this project in the future. Source /images/notams/notams18/emer0212/sak4.jpg
