While most sceneries focus on airports and cities, scenery viewed from aloft reveals features that are often overlooked. Africa is usually depicted as deserts and tropical forests, but it is geologically diverse. Its most active tectonic feature is the Eastern Rift System that forms lakes and mountains extending thousands of kilometers from Lebanon in the Middle East to Mozambique in southern Africa. Africa's Rift Valley from FL300 Two plates have broken from the main African plate. One has become Madagascar, an island off Africa’s east coast. More of eastern Africa is expected to break away eventually like Madagascar did millions of years ago. Mozambique volcanoes from 5,000 feet The Western Rift is bordered by some of Africa’s highest mountains. The Virunga Mountains is a chain of volcanoes where Rwanda, Congo, and Uganda meet. Its peaks are among Africa’s highest: The highest is Karisimbi at 14,7897 feet (4,507 meters). Nyiragongo is 11,358 feet (3,462 meters), and Nyamuragira is 1,049 feet (3.063 meters), and Sabyinyo is 11,923 feet. Zimbabwe from 15,000 feet Mount Kilimanjaro of Hemingway fame is Africa’s highest peak at 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). It is a dormant volcano with three distinct cones. Its youngest rocks are almost half a million years old. Its height gives it five climatic zones from bush lands, through rain forests, to arctic. Mount Kilimanjaro from FL350 Rift Valley has some of the world’s largest inland waters: Lake Tanganyika is 4,820 feet (1,470 meters) deep. It is also the world’s longest fresh-water lake. Lake Tanganyika from above Bujumbura Burindi The prominence of these features is readily visible in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The idea of this thread is that you can use it to announce that you are working on a scenery. Just to let other developers know that an airport, city or region is in development. That way hopefully we won't work on the same addons without knowing it. If you want to show the work in progress of your scenery, you can do that in here.

This scenery is for the South Korean Army Airfield located at Pocheon ROK (RKRO, S-217). It improves upon the vacant default airfield and adds some of the surrounding area homes and businesses. The rendition is based upon a combination of satellite imagery and personal experience while flying from RKRO during a joint US-ROK exercise in the early 1980’s. There is a detachment of US Marine CH-46’s encamped on the Eastern side of the airbase. The Pocheon Airbase is approximately 30 miles from North Korea and 20 miles from the center of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. This scenery is for MCAS Futenma, Okinawa. It improves upon the vacant default airbase and removes or replaces various default hangars. The rendition is based upon personal experience while flying on Okinawa the 1980’s. I have attempted to recreate the look and feel of this airfield as it appeared during ’80’s by adding support buildings and aircraft at the airfield, in addition to adding roads, buildings and facilities on the base (West) side of the field. Additional scenery libraries are required for all objects to appear. The enclosed notecard lists install instructions and the list of libraries, with links for download. Hello! I have a small problem with some selfmade sceneries for MSFS. If anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate it. Over the last year I made three sceneries for MSFS with the SDK: https://flightsim.to/file/61989/flugplatz-gstaad-saanen-lsgk-for-msfs https://flightsim.to/file/59076/flugplatz-speck-fehraltorf-lszk-for-msfs https://flightsim.to/file/54819/flugplatz-hegmatten-lsph-for-msfs But there is a strange problem with my custom groudn textures: As soon as I have more than one of my own sceneries installed, they won't load anymore. Only when I use one scenery at a time, the ground textures will load correctly. I looked trough all the files if there are duplicated GUIDs, false file names or something else. But I found nothing. I have really no idea what is causing the disappearance of those textures. Does anyone here have an idea or a solution? The tutorial I used to add my ground textures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI5iZCrkjVc

Hi! A few days ago I finished my own scenery for MSFS. But sadly it has some problems with my custom ground textures. It should look like this: But sometimes my textures just disappear: I don't have a clue why those textures sometimes work and sometimes not. Does anybody have a solution?

A few days ago I flew around in North Korea for fun. I noticed that the iconic Ryugyong hotel was missing. So I made the buidling in Blender and imported it into MSFS. The 3d-model isn't that great. It only took me about 30 minutes to make it. Don't expect much from it. Main features: -Adds the famous Ryugyong hotel -Deletes wrong buildings in the area -Adds North Korean flags in front of the building -Adds some vegetation around the Ryugyong The Ryugyong Hotel is an unfinished 105-story, 330-metre-tall (1,080 ft) pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang, North Korea. Its name is also one of the historical names for Pyongyang. The building is also known as the 105 Building, a reference to its number of floors. The building has been planned as a mixed-use development, which would include a hotel. Construction began in 1987 but was halted in 1992 as North Korea entered a period of economic crisis after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. After 1992, the building stood topped out, but without any windows or interior fittings. In 2008, construction resumed, and the exterior was completed in 2011. The hotel was planned to open in 2012, the centenary of founding leader Kim Il-Sung's birth. A partial opening was announced for 2013, but this was cancelled. In 2018, an LED display was fitted to one side, which is used to show propaganda animations and film scenes. [Wikipedia: Ryugyong Hotel] Installation: 1. Download the file from flightsim.com 2. Open the ZIP-file. There should be a folder called "north-korea_nfm" 3. Copy this folder into your community folder 4. Restart MSFS. The scenery should work now The community folder is usually located here: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community This can be different. I do not support the North Korean regime in any way! Have fun!-

FS2004 Scenery - Borealis Operations Center. Borealis is a fictional scenery located far north on Banks Island, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is Aeroworks-Technologies' (ARX) primary northern operations hub supporting the ARX TR-3B, REDACTED, REDACTED reconnaissance missions, and northern orbit-based satellite launches. Borealis also acts as a test facility, much like Groom Lake, or Tonopah Test Range in the real world, but specializes in cold weather testing for Aeroworks projects. Scenery by Joshua B. Nyhus.-

Krukenburg Castle is situated on a hill above the village of Helmarshausen, today part of Bad Karlshafen, in Northern Hessia (GER), north of Kassel-Calden airport. It is quite special in the way it was build. Central part of the castle is a church, built between 1107 and 1126. Its layout consists of four cross-shaped wings around a central rotunda, This design follows the layout of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The abbot of the Helmarshausen Monastry - Wino - had brought the necessary architecural plans from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem around 1030. This scenery removes vegetation from the castle site and adds a model of the castle remains. For more information please read the README.TXT file contained in the zip-archive. -

MSFS Scenery--Helmsley Castle (North Yorkshire, UK); Helmsley is a small market town situated at the southern edge of the North York Moors. The castle, on the west side of the town, was initially constructed in wood around 1120, was converted into a stone castle with works beginning only about 65 years later. In subsequent decades the castle was further extended, fortified and made more comfortable to live in. But is was until the times of the Civil war that it was besieged, taken and destroyed. Only the Mansion was spared. In the following centuries the castle was owned by various people and left to decay. In the 18th century it became a pictoresque decoration of the Duncombe Park estate with its country house built nearby. For more information please read the readme.txt file contained in the archive.
