Jack Frankie
Q: How can I have heavies back taxi the runway? {Like TNCM} and How can I get little planes {Cessna's} to take off mid runway?!?
il88pp
all runways have a runway start point. (one at each end) ou can see them with ADE. All aircraft take off from that point. If there's no other way to taxi to that point, AI will backtrack the runway. You may be able to add an extra runway strart point in the middle of the runway, but no idea if that does what you want, or if all the aircraft just take off fromt that point then. I expect they go to the start that takes the shortest route to taxi to. ADE is Airport Design Editor [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rupert
Jack, I just landed the default 747 on runway 9 TNCM. At the wide spot on the end of the runway I pulled slightly into the wide spot and used my differential brakes and could make the 180* without getting any gear on the grass. I did the same thing at the end of 27 as well. I'd say, use your differential brakes. As to the request for a short takeoff, I agree ATC isn't hugely well done on occasion. I also would like to be able to request a long landing when using a small plane on long runways to also reduce taxi time after landing. Since neither seems to be a viable request with default ATC, I just do both anyway. I haven't been called to the tower yet. Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
