ednixon
Just watched a Youtube video of a student pilot doing a couple of circuits in a Cessna. Unknown model but one of the 2-place high-wing single engine styles. Immediately after takeoff and again before landing, we hear 5 beeps. Assuming this feature might be common with a variety of similar planes and not model-specific, what might that be?
lnuss
A poor assumption. It must be related to something they have on board, but I've never come across such a sound matching your description, and I've got a lot of time in all the Cessna singles except the 210. Nor have I come across it in any other aircraft I've flown. However, if these beeps are a bit further away, out past the end of the runway, and if this video was shot at a larger airport with instrument approaches, you might have been hearing a fan marker, perhaps the inner marker (IM), which not only provides beeps but also a flashing panel light. ednixon
Agree - thanks. Inner marker makes sense. Couldn't see the panel so don't know if there was a light or not.
