I'm very upseat because traffic with UTX does not work even if you have only primary roads checked and the traffic set to 1%. 0% - 25 fps with NGX. 1% - 16 fps with NGX. Tested in vicinity of KJFK (same thing expected elsewhere). Sad. Back 12 years to 2004 -))) I added the "auto imprint" to atleast make it look like a highway. If that is the case then I refer you to my previous guidance - https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?297481-Vector-or-UTXv2&p=1970011#post1970011 Are all the updates installed and recognised? You need to stop just throwing questions out here and actually knuckle down to what you installed, and HOW you installed it. Have you run the UTX Europe setup tool AND the UTX USA Setup Tool? And are you running them from a folder that is clearly and irrefutably marked as P3D V3? Only then can anyone here offer any kind of assistance at all. alexzar14 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Share Posted March 22, 2016 I installed the product, with proper P3D patches and the Orbx textures update that you provided a link for (it was recognized and installed ok). The product is fully installed, it is above the FTX Global and FTX OpenLC EU and CA in the scenery library, but below the airports. FTX Base -> OpenLC -> UTX USA and EU -> airports. The road traffic doesn't work well in UTX so I disabled it (I mentally prepared myself to give it up, anyway UTX traffic is poorly done, it loads traffic everywhere at once, so if your city secondary roads are off you will see traffic going thru city buildings which is ugly looking. Vector didn't have this problem but it had other). Disabling traffic provided a great relief to the sim, with traffic off you can crank up many other features (scenery/autogen etc) almost to max. Traffic in FSX/P3D is not as evident as in Xplane anyway so I let it go. Other than that I am happy with what I have and I think my transition to P3D process is over, looks ok and flies ok. mallcott Posted March 22, 2016 Share Posted March 22, 2016 This is contrary to my experience on four different systems, with both or either UTX Europe and/or USA installed. Under the UTX roads configurator I set all roads active EXCEPT for RD4 and RD5. Under P3D I set road traffic to 15% and see none of the issues you describe. NO traffic through buildings, no absence of traffic on any of the major or minor roads, no traffic on non-existent roads. The traffic is at least as prominent as on FSX or X-Plane. And little measurable impact on smoothness or fps. The ony post installation tweak I have applied is to slow all the traffic down, and vary the speeds so one gets a realistic interpretation of cars catching lorries, vehicles at different speeds and WHY. On both systems I have good looking road traffic at low fps impact. I probably run them around 5% or so - haven't looked in a while. One thing you do NOT want it the road imprint - THAT will eat FPS. Right now I have another more important problem, the last major issue with P3D to be addressed: fiber frame factor, mine as at 0.01 as often suggested. Performance is good but the display is bad, it is blurry right where you are because the scenery takes longer to load. Raising the value kills performance, lowering the value kills display quality. vgbaron Posted March 23, 2016 Share Posted March 23, 2016 just as a FYI - the valid ranges for FFTF are 0.10 to 0.99 - anything outside these fall back to the default 0.33. That is from Aces and LM themselves so those touting 0.01 are incorrect. You cannot just randomly change settings and cross fingers. The settings must be in some sort of balance - the problem that some folks fail to understand is that this balance will be different for every system. You cannot just copy someone else's settings and expect them to work. You CAN use them as a starting point - then start modifying EACH one by itself and see what changes. If you are being a purist - you would have different settings for different types of flight - low/slow or high tubes. Also take into account whether you run unlimited or locked FPS. In relation to FFTF, this can have a huge effect. For me, I lock at 25fps - because I really don't care about fps - I care about SMOOTH and if it's smooth at 25, then I can increase my eye candy. What on earth would require you to even try such a setting? You haven't asked about it here, so one can assume you've been advised elsewhere. Now I can go back to UTX road traffic problemo, can't say it's an urgent problem but you said it should perform ok so let's try figuring it. I disabled RD4, 5 and more stuff, leaving only primary freeways/highways and primary rural, but it did not help. note: my report on low fps rate was based on usage of PMDG aircraft loaded over NYC/Chicago/LA at approach altitudes. Also, same results with PMDG aircraft on the runway, with car traffic not even in sight. Traffic 0% - 25 fps. Traffic 1% - 16 fps. With default aircraft the rate drop is low but it is irrelevant. Interestingly, with airliner aircraft I get only two performance levels: If all is well, I get 24 fps (locked at 26). If there is something resource demanding (EGLL when making turns, or car traffic), it drops to 16 as if there was a secondary fps lock - 16. I must admit low fps rate in P3D is a smoother experience than it was in FSX, it is ok to have a few second 16fps drop in EGLL or FT CYYZ, but not ok with traffic-ON because the 16fps rate is constant, as if locked at 16.
