Just wondering

I purchased the steam version of FSX and all has been good without the issues related to it.The one problem is for the fact that I have not been able to find the freeware version of the Iris T-6 Trojan.I accidentally deleted it and have not been able to find it anywhere on the web.

The bottom one of these three is the famous WW2 T-6 Texan if that's the one you want.

The top one is wrongly called a Texan, it should be called a T-28 Trojan, it came out after WW2.

The middle one is another post-WW2 Texan, they pinched the name-

PS- Here are a bunch of more post-WW2 T-28 Trojans if you're looking for one of them-

SBK, you are the only one who will see anything on those links.

You cannot link to search results at the FS.com library.

Better to post file names.

The Nay/MC used the AT-6 SNJ (Texan in America, Harvard in England), a radial engine equipped aircraft, until sometime after WWII. My father was a Naval Flight Instructor in them, before they poiltly asked him to...ahem...resign of his own free will. Long story.

After the AT-6 they went for a time to the T-28 Trojan, also a radial, I believe, then to the latest and greatest "thing", The T-6 Texan II, a very nice, and pretty sophisticated, turboprop, for their primary Flight Training.

The thing flies like a dream, and has an "autorudder" system to try to simulate as closely as possible their jet aircraft, such as the FA-18C, for example, which makes coordinated turns due entirely to the airframe design, and the FCS system, without the pilot needing to make rudder inputs. For NORMAL turns. This prepares the prospective jet jocks for the planes they may fly.

There are a number of each kind found in the library here, and several other sites too. I can search for some real quick if you like, but it'd be better for you to do it. Just plug in the appropriate plane's designator (AT-6 just for example), and search your litttle heart out :D

Google is also your good friend.

Thanks, the Search routines have always been a mystery to me.

As for posting the file name, that'll just take people to the blind Download without an accompanying writeup.

This method is not bad-

File Library> Advanced Search> FSX All Files> These words- texan> Complete aircraft> Start search,

and it should list 3 hits with writeups to rummage through.:)

You are confused, ain't ya?? File name like FSX_XYZ_aircraft.zip (can you tell I made that up?), when entered into the file search area will yield the description, etc.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Try fsx_t_28_texan_updated.zip

That took me to a T-28 Trojan, not to a Texan. Not your fault, the uploader must have got his Trojans and Texans mixed up.

Anyway it proves my search way is better, because my way throws up a range of planes to choose from, not just one, here's a recap of how I do it-

File Library> Advanced Search> FSX All Files> These words- texan> Complete aircraft> Start search

PS- But my favourite way of searching is to simply type fsx texan (or any other FSX aircraft) into Google, and we'll usually get truckloads of hits from all over internetland, not just from FS.com..:)

That is where you are wrong,the T-28 is a radial,the T-6 is a turboprop

The T-6 is a radial- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_T-6_Texan

...and a turboprop- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_T-6_Texan_II
