gdr1944
I guess that's a NO! Army Engineer Veteran..Busted for insubordination Nam-1966
PhantomTweak
If you want something constant, put it into the [Effects] section of your aircraft.cfg file(s) for the plane(s) you want it in. If you want it on and off switchable with the "I" switch, put it in the [sMOKESYSTEM] section. At least I think that's how it works. Are you talking add-on or default effects? Add-ons usually have pretty good HOW-TO instructions included... Not excessively helpful, I know, sorry... Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again! gdr1944
FSXA The fx_goosefire is in the effects folder. The SMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=12.0, 0.0, -6.30, fx_goosefire is edited to the goose cfg file. gdr1944
Hello: Do FS9 effects work in FSX? I change the fx and edited the cfg to reflect the change..NO JOY More input please. PhantomTweak
I am not certain about the FS9->FSX effect crossover. Someone much wiser than I will have to anser that one. Is that an add-on effect, or part-n-parcel of FSX? Is the plane you're adding it to the default FSX Goose, or an add-on? If it's an add-on, which one? What's the zipfile name of it's download. All these things help us all narrow down where the problem may lie. I will take a look at the default and see what I can see about that, however. A possibility I've heard of before is that the effects file got corrupted somehow. Maybe you can re-install it off the installation discs? Or a "virgin" back-up you have someplace? Just a thought. They are so rare in my little brain... Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! gdr1944
Hello: Many years ago lived in Roseburg Up dated Bill Lyons Goose. I don't think any FSX default aircraft have engine fire. Ill be flying BL's goose in Japanese held waters. Its in one of BL's flights. By the way I did get a Honorable. mrzippy
I'll be home Moday afternoon after being away from my sim computer for 2 weeks. I'll check out what my silly goose has in the way of engine fire effects. I know several of my prop planes have that effect and it should not be difficult to incorporate into the Goose. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
PhantomTweak
A guy named Lloyd Dixon did an update for the default FSX Goose, improving the Flight Dynamics (A LOT!) and adding a few effect to the [Effects] section. The file name is goose_dynamics_v1.0.1.zip. Thus: [EFFECTS] wake=fx_wake startup=fx_engstrt water=fx_spray dirt=fx_tchdrt concrete=fx_sparks touchdown=fx_tchdwn_s, 1 EngineDamage=fx_engsmoke PistonFailure=fx_PistonFailure EngineOilLeak=fx_OilLeak EngineFire=fx_engfire Or were you looking more for fire spruting out of hte exhaust pipes during normoal ops, like a P-51 has? There is also a very good freeware Goose, The_Goose_updated_by_nor-cal_prop_club.zip that has [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=-01,700, 0.0, -6.30, fx_goosefire [EFFECTS] wake=fx_wake dirt=fx_dustrun concrete=fx_sparksx touchdown=fx_tchdwn_s, 1 startup=fx_engstrt_g21 water=fx_goose_spray That you could probably adapt to your needs...? It does come with all it's own effects files. Does any of that help? I can try to grab a screenie if you want... mrzippy
OK, I just want to be sure of what you are looking for. Engine fire meaning your engine was shot up and your going down in flames with the engines burning? Or the effect of small jets of flame from the engine exhaust? Engine fire from a failure is in the download provided by PhantomTweak. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

mrzippy
OK, hang on to your seat! As long as you have fx_goosefire.fx in your Effects folder and if you edit or copy my slight changes, you will have your engine fires by pressing the I key. [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=22.0, 0.0, -4.0, fx_goosefire.fx Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

mrzippy
Sorry, my float up and down switches work! I did a little more work with the position of the effect. The actual fire effect is sort of like a bright orange lite turning on by the engines and then thick black smoke. P.S. Your engines must be running, so don't show a picture of the engines not running. [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=-6.0, 0.0, -3.0, fx_goosefire.fx Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! mrzippy
OK, here is your exact aircraft from The_Goose_updated_by_nor-cal_prop_club.zip with my modified [smokesystem] You are right.. the float switches don't work on the panel! I highly recommend this Goose! http://fsxfreewarehouse.blogspot.com/2012/07/grumman-goose-ozx-hd-redux-120.html [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=-6.0, 0.0, -3.0, fx_goosefire.fx (Note the added .fx in red) Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
