Houston, We Have a Problem! ...... OR ...... What We Have Here Is Failure to Communicate.

Let's first review my logic. First, the title: Dornier Do28A-1 Cassic Wings FSX

Second, the term Port-Over FS2004 .... which I interpreted as Port-Over from FS2004.

Next, I downloaded the file in question. It's titled dornier_do28a-1_cassic_wings_fsx.zip which contains the file dornier_do28a-1_cassic_wings_fsx.exe.

When I opened the installer, it looked for my FSX installation and had CANCEL in the top as to where to install.

I installed in a "dummy" folder. The file structure turned out to be: SimObjects/Airplanes. Upon completion, it asked me if I wanted to start FSX ..... hmmmmm.

I then examined the files in all of the Texture folders and they are in the format dornierxxx.dds .......hmmmmmmm again.

I rest my case upon accusing this model aircraft as being for FSX. If the court finds me or my evidence at fault, then I ask for mercy and forgiveness.

If, on the other hand ...... well, we won't go there for now.

.....and I thank you for your support .... or not.

You get the BASE MODEL then you paint it with 'FSX' paint or you paint it with 'FS9' paint. That is how you do it I believe (I could be wrong). Hope reigns (or is it 'rains'?) eternal.

PS: I downloaded just now so haven't 'tried' anything yet. It's past my bedtime anyway.

The court finds in favour of gwillmot, our sincere apologies to you sir.

The Dornier Do28 install includes a very well written manual with links to Craig's new website and forum, where there is a thread on the development of the Dornier Do28. Craig made a beta model for FS9 which no longer exists, but created the final version for FSX only. The final FSX version is too complex to port-over to FS9 unfortunately. However, Craig has created many, many other superb vintage and classic aircraft for FS9 and they can be downloaded from:

If I could convert the *.dds' texture files to '*.bmp' I could fly it in FS2004, maybe? Will look for method (ie: program) to convert. Unless it's not possible. And if it is 'complex' it would be due to the PANEL (ie: gauges, xml, etc). That can me remedied by using a different panel. The sound could be the DC-3 sound. The effects need not be used. As long as it fly 'spec' who cares about the 'rest' of the 'baloney' (ie: SOAP OPERA).

I tried it already, there are separate interior and exterior .mdl files and FS9 cannot read them.

I did consider the model not being compatible. I did NOT expect FS9 to 'read' the 'interior' model, so was not going to include it anyway. And as far as it flying 'spec' forget it. Stalls with full flaps and 60% power? Bogus. It's another Air Wrench 'flight model' (more like another 'victim' - too bad so sad).

You might have noticed the pull to the left (can't 'correct' with rudder as the tail wheel is locked) and that is due to the prop annimation (model) are both the same. You can enter 'rotation= 1, -1' to correct that pull but the prop annimation will be messed up. Makes me sad to see that.

And I recommend the OV-10 sound and not the DC-3 sound. I used a different panel. This model has 'unusual' Flaps, no AP, no Flight Director, no smoke, no lights, etc. I guess it is because it's a port over from FS98 (errr, I mean CFS1...or was it FS2k2?).
