mabe5454
"skara_scenery_curacao_airport.zip" (up in the library) The install is placing "TNCC_ADEX_afcad.BGL" in the main Scenery of FSX. I would have expected it to be installed in Addon Scenery\Scenery or inside "Added on"(mine)\Skara Scenery Curacao Airport(theirs)\Scenery but not by itself in main Scenery. Where does *afcad*.bgl files normally go? Confusing, I know. Cheers,
mrzippy
That's kinda why most of us would not let the "Auto-installer" place anything in our Sim. I unzipped it to a folder I created. I would put it manually into the AddonScenery/Scenery folder my self and then the Airport scenery folder into the Addon Scenery folder and activate it in the Settings/Library. Are you seeing the TNCC_ADEX_afcad.BGL sitting in the Scenery folder all naked along with all of those other folders?? Seems weird! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! mabe5454
Yes, it is siting there all by itself. Strange, doesn't it? Actually I want to do: Added on\Curacao\scenery \texture And add through the Library. Then: Addon Scenery\scenery\TNCC_ADEX_afcad.BGL Note: it might be what you suggested. Funny. The same group have Aruba and Bonaire but they do not have the anomaly like in Curacao. Cheers,
mgh
Does the scenery not work in in the "main Scenery of FSX"?
mabe5454
Does the scenery not work in in the "main Scenery of FSX"? I'll be back on that one. For now, Let's all bow for a great and brave HD that died last night in the service of FSX (Ouch!). Almost 7 years, a good lad it was. It died in the fury of crossing the Atlantic. RIP and go with the floppies... Cheers,
PhantomTweak
May it rest with the 3½'s! RCChopper
That's kinda why most of us would not let the "Auto-installer" place anything in our Sim. I unzipped it to a folder I created. mrzippy, can you please clarify this valuable advice for me and others? I totally agree with this and I know you have suggested it to others many times. When you say you unzip to a folder you create, you are just creating a folder then clicking the exe and pointing it to that folder right? Or are you unzipping to a created folder with winzip or something? I am on win7 which has unzip in it, therefore no longer needing winzip. I ask this basic question because I have always, for the exact reasons you warn about, avoided those exe self installer addons but as we see more of them I want to make sure I'm handling them the best way. Great advice you give here.

Great advice you give here. Instead of pointing the auto installer to my Sim, I point it to a brand new folder I created and tell it to install to there. I'll try a screenshot as an example. It will take a few minutes. OK, I chose a download from a well-known uploader that tends to put tons of KRAP into his downloads, IE: fireworks, unauthorized light effects files, Porn pictures, etc. Stuff you don't want in your Sim. This is the normal install path This is the install path and folder I created called CRAPPY AIRPLANE. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! PhantomTweak
That's the only way I'll do it too. I do NOT trust a single auto-installer. I want to see what it's trying to stick where... that didn't sound right... I want to see what it's trying to stick where... that didn't sound right... Pat☺ I will put a mild disclaimer along with my position on auto installers. There are trusted downloads that must use auto installers like ORBX freeware airports and regions like PNW. The auto installer is the only option for this type of download. jandjfrench
Hi, Just a bit more regarding installing to a temporary location: After copying what you'd like to keep from the temporary location do as complete an uninstall as possible. You never know what might be lurking in the dark recesses of your computer. Scenery.cfg may have to be edited so that all is kosher. Jim F. mabe5454
In the "skara_scenery_barra_airport_v_2_0.zip" There is a statement: "(although the fsx traffic won't go!)" in the Installation Help.rtf point 3 of How to install? What does it mean by "...won go!"? Cheers,
