HillBillyJim
Driving home from a meeting today, I passed by KBUF, my hometown airport. I always take a look as I drive to see what planes are there. Looking over towards the taxiway, I do a double-take: A 727 in Fedex colors is taxiing there! I had no idea they still flew these boys. Thoughts? Is this a normal thing? http://vnorthwest.com/lib/signatures/NWA3004.png Great VA! Join me at http://www.vnorthwest.com :)
lnuss
Well, this article from June 2013 indicates they're all retired. Several other articles from the web indicate the same thing. That's not saying there couldn't be one flying for some purpose other than FedEx revenue (packages, etc.), though, or even just repositioning on an airport. Larry N. N2056
FedEx donated a lot of 727s to assorted groups. One went to an entity in Buffalo. Here's a map showing the locations of the donated planes... https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zXL8OISKXoUU.kqIdOC8tr-Cg Robert Kerr 3D Modeler & Texture Artist I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz, GTX-970 w/4GB, 8gb DDR 3 RAM, two SSDs, and Win 7 64 bit.
