Strange problem, autopilot is automatically engaged at the beginning of every flight

Hi guys,

First post woohoo! Anyway I'm a new convert to FSX and I absolutely love it. I'm having the problem as per the title. It wasn't always like this. Since I bought FSX off steam a couple of weeks ago I've bought the following addons:

FTX Global

FTX Global Vector

FTX OpenLC

FTX England region

FTX Scotland region

I will set the flight up, flightplan/weather/aircraft etc and hit fly now. When I get plonked in the cockpit on the runway AP is automatically engaged and I start rolling down the runway. It doesn't matter which aircraft I choose either. I have to disengage AP and lower my throttle to take off manually. Is this a bug or a setting I have turned on by mistake??

Any help would be greatly appreciated because its driving me mad!!

Cheers

Sid

Firstly, welcome to the forum sidfadc.

Open FSX, choose which aircraft you want as opening aircraft each time FSX starts.

Set up the aircraft to how you want it each time you load FSX. For example I have set mine to cold and dark.

Click File and Save

Check the default flight box and give the aircraft a description.

Hope this helps :pilot:

Now when starting...any saved ground flights in FSX they will all be set to the same configuration you initially set

No they will not.

They will be loaded with whatever was current when the flight was saved.

No they will not.

Perhaps I didn't make it quite clear and include this in my instructions.

If your default flight is set to cold and dark or whatever setup you set then all new and saved flights at the gate will start cold and dark or whatever set up you set.

I recently changed my setup to cold and dark at start up, and can confirm and have tried umpteen flights that all new and saved flights that are parked at the gate now start cold and dark.

Yes I agree, if you are not at the gate then previous configurations will not change, but at the gate they will all be the same.

You made yourself quite clear and you are still wrong.

Anytime you load a saved flight the info in your default flight is ignored.

Say your default flight is C&D and you save another flight at the gate with the engines running. If you load that second flight your engines will be running.

At least that is how it has worked for me for the last umpteen years.

I have a small question to ask at this time. If you have a saved flight that starts at the gate that was created before you made your new "cold and dark" default flight, I would think that the new changes would not affect the old saved flight. I'm assuming the old, saved flight ended with the engines still running. If the engines and electrical were shut down before ending, then I would think the "cold and dark" would be in effect.

Don't mind me, just my Saturday, after breakfast ramblings. :p

OK, this is scary......Zippy and the Bean on the same wavelength and timing!

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Have it your way.

I'm big enough to admit that I may not be 100% right or wrong, but so as to not confuse the OP I have deleted my last post and the end bit on my image instructions. At the end of the day I'm not interested in getting into silly arguments but to show the OP how to make a default set up of his aircraft for the start of each flight.

What did you edit in your .cfg? Mind sharing your remedy to help others?

He may have edited his FSX.cfg at this point to re-establish his default "Friday Harbor" flight.
