Aerosoft's statement of Steam compatibility

From their Facebook page, Aerosoft said,

Compatibility with new FSX STEAM version

There are some people who have bought add-ons expecting them to be compatible with the new FSX STEAM version. Now while the files might be compatible, our installers are most certainly not and have to be adapted. So do make sure you check the product requirements before ordering a product! There are currently five different simulators that are NOT guaranteed compatible in any way.

- FS2004 (FS9)

- FSX (SP2/Acceleration/Gold)

- Prepar3D

- Prepar3D V2

- FSX STEAM

We are hard at work to change the installers and will be able to put some online soon. But until you see the simulator your use in the list we do not guarantee compatibility! If you have any questions please ask them here: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F90446-compatibility-with-fsx-steam-version%2F

Wow. This is so POORLY written as yo make my eyes cross. Not very good tech support to distribute information like this which can be so confusing to new FS users (which most of them will be.)

Reads like normal English to me. There are 5 flight sims Aerosoft sells for. Make sure the product you are thinking about purchasing is programmed to the sim you are using.

They are working to program those that don't work.

If you have a question, please ask before purchasing.

Yes, English, but non-sequitur.

"...five different simulators that are NOT guaranteed compatible..."

five simulators listed...

Then:

"...But until you see the simulator your(sic) use in the list we do not guarantee compatibility"

What "list"? The above list where ALL the simulators are listed as incompatible?

Is there is another list of compatible versions? Is FS2002 on there? Weird.

I get what they probably MEANT to write, but that's not what they actually wrote.

Aerosoft is a German company, maybe English grammar isn't their strong suit.

But as I read it, I read that they do not guarantee that what they sell for one sim may work for another sim.

Possibly. But snipping a single quote from a discussion site like faceache is really misrepresentation. The gist off it is clear enough, only a pedant or a fool needs to discuss the position of the words and imply meaning.

Basically, before you buy, check.

And anyone who doesn't apply that methodology to each and every purchase for their simulator variant from any developer or publisher is that fool I mentioned above.

it's a good idea to read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the words first. The Aerosoft page states:

* Aerosoft's add-ons are not guaranteed to be compatible with FSX-SE

* Advises you what simulator your add-on is for before buying it

* Lists the five separate simulators that are not compatible

* If in doubt ask.

What's the problem?

It reads to me as if NOTHING is supported.

What I get from this is due to lack of care, proof reading or translation, the ATTEMPT was to communicate that their product line supports one or more of the following simulators BUT if the particular simulator you want to use is NOT listed in the SPECIFICATIONS or REQUIREMENTS for a PARTICULAR product you want to use, then there MAY be unspecified compatibility problems until they update their installers to accommodate the various simulators by refining the customization of their file copying processes.

I still insist the original post was not helpful enough to distribute.

Snipping a single quote? That was the whole post from Aerosoft's Facebook page on that topic.

From the link provided in the original quote from Aerosoft's Facebook posting, one person did ask for clarification.

FSX STEAM edition is technically different from the FSX version already out there, so our addons will not work with it, unless FSX Steam edition is explicitly mentioned in the system requirements on the product page or box.
was their response.
