Woodpecker1214388
I have a SSD "C" and a Sata mechanical hard drive "D" The "C" drive is becoming full and contains Windows and programs The "D" drive holds scenery only and mostly empty. I am recording video and this fills "C" drive whilst recording (before compressing video files). What would you suggest is the best way forwards, without having to migrate Windows to a new SSD and risk losing data or having to completely reload all software to the SSD. I have two bays used for drives and could fit; if necessary, a total of three hard drives. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
loki
Keep the OS, applications and important data on the SSD, and move all other data to the existing hard drive. Or add a second hard drive if you want to keep the current one for FS stuff only. Video that you are finished recording and working with should go to the hard drive. Another trick that may help too is redirecting some or all of the folders, like Documents, Music and Videos, inside your user folder to the mechanical drive. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18629-user-folders-change-default-location.html http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/redirect-folder-new-location#1TC=windows-7 Migrating to a larger SSD doesn't carry much risk of losing data at all these days with the use of drive imaging software. Always good to back up, but the chance of failure is low.
