Hi Teson
Wanted to give you an early heads up of a 2 session Market Garden 70th anniversary multiplayer sessions (over 2 saturdays) 6th and 13th Sept 2014. It will take place on FSINN and involve formations from 2 airfields dropping paratroops at Nijmegen and Arnhem. A webpage will eventually be set up as we did for varsity with all the downloads.

Hi Bear,
I've provided some suggestions to your problem in the FS2004 forum:

Just for background:
FS will first search for the .xml gauge referenced in panel.cfg in the aircraft's panel\ACFTGAUGE folder, then if it does not find the folder/.xml at this location it will search for it in panel\ACFTGAUGE.cab, then in the main gauges folder in gauges\ACFTGAUGE folder if present, and finally in gauges\ACFTGAUGE.cab, and take the first .xml it finds in this order.

Hello labanni,
I assume you are uncabbing a .cab file to edit the CHT/oil temperature gauge.
Just extract the .cab file into a FOLDER.
(Example: Extract ACFTGAUGE.cab -> folder ACFTGAUGE\CHT_gauge.xml, assuming the gauge is referenced as gaugeXX=ACFTGAUGE!CHT_gauge in the panel.cfg).
That should leave the .cab file unaltered.
You should then have a .Cab file and a folder of same name.
Do any edit on the .xml of the CHT/Oil Temp gauge in the FOLDER with Notepad or Notepad ++ as described in the RE manual.
Btw, you can delete any unmodified file (.xml, .bmp ect) from the folder. Only the edited .xml needs to be in there.
Place this FOLDER into the aircraft's panel folder, e.g. panel\ACFTGAUGE\CHT_gauge.xml.
No need for recabbing the folder. Just leave as is.
Hope I have understood your problem correctly, and hope this answers your question.

Hello Teson1!
My name is Bert Groner, Editor in Chief of FS MAGAZIN, the german languaged professional journal on flight simulations on PC and Mac since December 2005. As I want to recommend your RealEngine v1.4 with the next issue of FS MAGAZIN I kindly ask you to get in touch with me via email: bert.groner[at]fsmagazin.de.
Thanks a whole lot in advance - have a good time!

hi. How can I Change the aircraft's CHT (or Oil temperature) gauge to display the
temperature values calculated by the new CHT model (optional) for the MAAM DC3 ?! The gauge is a .gau file. So I have to change the CHT gauge. But the MAAM gau. file is a multi gauge with up to 8 gauges. When I remove this one, a lot of other gauges are lost. And btw. when I you FSpanel, I always get an error message that the baron gauge is not found. Where do I have to store this .xml file.
Thank you. GREAT add-on !!! Really

HI !
I"m trying to install your program. Someting disturb me. When I open a cab file in my gauge file, with Winrar, it became a .rar extension. I cannot use it anymore in the original form.
Do I have to reconvert the rar extension in cab file ? If so, what program should I use ?
Thanks for your attention

Hi,
just to let anybody interested know that I have uploaded RealEngine v1.4 to the library (RealEngine_v14.zip):
https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fname=realengine_v14.zip

Hi Larry,
good to hear of you.
I'd suggest to use v1.2. See 3 messages below for details.
Easiest to configure and share set-ups.
Only the single parameters .xml file has to be edited.
If using v1.1 only the parameters of engine 1 have to be entered into the .xml files.
Parameters for engine 2-4 are pulled from the values for engine 1.

Good morning Gunter,
I love Real Engine. I fly with DC3 Airway and a number for us use it. I have it in all my DC3's, C46's and now probably the DC4 as well. I flew SOH's Andes flights with it on and what a humbling experience that was, I loved it.
It's been awhile sense I installed it and some of my friends can't remember but when changing the values in the .xml's do you only change the values in engine #1 or do you have to put the same values in all engines?
Thanks
Larry

Hallo Guenter,
Woah, I sense a lot of frustration there...
Seems you've spent a long time trying to get the module to work. I know how frustrating this can be...
RE is unfortunately not click-and play, but needs some editing of .cfg and xml files. A small error there can make it fail. I can't guarantee it works on all systems either, although I've not had a case where we could not get it to work at all.
First thing would be to use v1.2 (see below in the visitor messages) instead of v03 - more features, easier to configure.
If you're still interested to get it to work we can try to troubbleshoot by PM or email. I'd also like to understand why it didn't work.
Drop me a PM if you'd like to give it a go again, explaining what exactly you get (or don't get). We could take it from there.
Cheers,
Gunter

Make sure you use RE version 1.2!
It's only available at SOH
Message 14
That version has a single xml file ("RE1_Parameters_v12.xml") in which all important parameters can be set for a plane, which should make it easier to adapt RE to a plane.
I've not come around to release it to the sites, as I still have plans for improvement, but never came around to do so... Sorry to all those who have fought with the multitude of files in old versions.

Hello Francois,
You can find a POH of the 182Q POH at www.avialogs.com IIRC.
Here's what it says:
Limitations:
Max power = 230 BHP (make sure this is about the maximum value reached in the modeled plane during TO)
Max RPM=2400 RPM
Max CHT = 460 °F
Max oil temp = 240 °F
Vfe=Vfo=140 KIAS
(Vle=Vlo=999 or any value (no retractable gear)
Normal operating procedures:
TO: FT / 2400 RPM / Full rich (lean above 5000 ft) = max 100 %
Max climb: FT / 2400 RPM / Full rich (lean above 5000 ft) = max 100 %
Max cruise:
Leaned to max power (peak EGT+50 °F) <= 75 %
Leaned to best economy (peak EGT) <= 65 %
Just enter these values into "RE1_Parameters_v12.xml" (see next message) and you should be all set.
I would only use power limitations (100/100/75/65%), and would deactivate the MP/RPM limitations module, as max RPM=full prop and max MP=full MP, so limitations make no sense.
Hope this helps.

Dear Gunter, really looking forward to using your program. Would you have the setup for a Cessna 182Q, Continental 0-470? regards
