SNPJ Patrocinio AirportPublisher: DC Scenery DesignReview Author: Neil BirchSuggested Price: $8.00/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.png /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-01.jpgIntroductionFor those of you unfamiliar with thearea, Patrocinio is a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais,Brazil. Patrocinio has four districts: Salitre de Minas, Sao Joao daSerra Negra, Silvano e Santa Luzia dos Barros and is known for itscoffee production. In fact, 78% of the economy is connected to coffee, with the activity employing more than 30,000 people. At an elevationof 965 m, it's a little bit higher than what I am used to (grassstrips over the north of England). Unfortunately, due to the lack of anydocumentation, it's complete guesswork as to where you install thescenery (unless you're familiar with the folder structure in FlightSimulator 2020 as I was). For a scenery to lack any form ofdocumentation is rather poor, so I hope the developers take note ofthis and include one ASAP in a future update. However, unlike previous versions of Flight Simulator (and alsoP3D), there is no need to add the airport in the simulator's scenerylibrary, as it is all done automatically. This is something I reallylike about Flight Simulator 2020, as the old method was rather tediousat best. It was also prone to errors, so for new users of thegenre...this is most welcomed! /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-06.jpg /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-07.jpgLooking AroundThe airport itself is a simple affair, with only a few buildingsscattered about, most of which are made up of hangars and storagehuts. There is a main office (terminal would be stretching it), and itseems to be where most of the activity would take place. The buildings are well modelled, and the texturing reasonablygood. Considering how simple the airport layout is, the developershave made good use of Flight Simulator's PBR features. The airport'srunway (1200 meters / 3937 feet in length) and apron textures workwell, but it would have been nice to have seen a little bit moreweathering on them. In terms of airport "clutter", there isn't much to be seen apartfrom the odd oil barrel, so a little more detail here would have beenappreciated. In regards to human lifeforms, there are the odd one ortwo maintenance personal hanging about (Flight Simulator default Ithink), but that's about it. When viewed from above, the airport blends in nicely with itssurroundings and really looks the part. Quite a few airport sceneriesI have seen and experienced in the past really stick out when viewedfrom a few thousand feet, but I'm happy to say that this one doesn't. /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-02.jpg /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-03.jpgNight LightingA feature of the scenery I particularly liked was the nightlighting. Now I'm not sure if this was modelled into the scenery, orsomething Flight Simulator 2020 does automatically, but the resultswere most pleasing to the eye! PerformanceBeing at the top end of Flight Simulator 2020's systemrequirements, my i7 9700F, coupled with a 1080Ti and 32 GB of RAM hadno problems in regards to running the scenery. Everything was buttersmooth and I experienced no slowdowns or stutters. /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-08.jpg /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-09.jpgConclusionIf you enjoy flying around Brazil, DC Design's SNPJ PatrocinioAirport for Flight Simulator 2020 makes for a pretty enjoyableexperience, especially as the local geography can look stunning attimes. The modelling and texturing are both good, but there are a fewissues where I think it could be improved upon. The first and mostimportant one being...documentation! If this scenery is to appeal toa larger audience, then this really has to be added (I can't stressthis enough). The other thing I would add is people, and a bit moreairport clutter. Having all of the above included would make a bigdifference to the scenery and push it up a bar in my opinion. All inall though, and taking in the low purchase price...Patrocinio Airportis a worthy effort and one which is worth considering. /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-10.jpg /images/reviews/patrocin/t/DC-Scenery-SNPJ-Patrocinio-11.jpgReview System:Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020Windows 10 Professional Intel® Core™ i7 9700F CPU 3.00 GHz Processor 32 GB RAM NVIDIA® 1080Ti/images/reviews/patrocin/DCD-105-snpj-patrocinio.jpg Neil Birch Purchase DC Scenery Design - SNPJ - Patrocinio Brazil for MSFS See other DC Scenery Design add-ons
