/images/notams/notams19/virt0129/virt0129.jpgThe Boeing B-47 was the first swept-wing multi-engine bomber inservice with the USAF. It was truly a quantum leap in aviationhistory, and is the forerunner of every jet aircraft in servicetoday. As early as 1943, Boeing engineers had envisaged a jet bomber, but were unable to overcome issues with the straight wings of theday. However, Boeing aero-engineer George Schairer was in Germany andcame across some secret wind-tunnel data on swept-wing jetairplanes. He sent the information back to the United States, whereengineers then used the Boeing High-Speed Wind Tunnel to develop theXB-47, which featured swept-back wings. /images/notams/notams19/virt0129/b47e-3.jpgThe B-47 broke a number of records and proved to be a greatstrategic deterrent during the Cold War era. The B-47E is an advancedversion of the original XB-47, with much more powerful J-47 engines. Agrand total of 2,032 of these aircraft were built, with the last onerolling out in 1956. /images/notams/notams19/virt0129/b47e-1.jpgFeaturesconversion to X-Plane of the popular FS2004/FSX version, first released in 2006optimised for XP11includes FMOD sounds set with custom cockpit soundsvrconfig.txt included for VR usersnew 'stressed skin' bump-mapping and reflective bare-metal texturespilot's cockpit is authentically presented (rear cockpit is modelled but lacks full functionality)many mousable switches in cockpit (lights, starters, shutdowns, etc.)all instruments are the '3D' modelled type, not bitmapsauthentic flight model with checklistillustrated manual with explanations of the various functions and quickstart guideFPS-friendly construction throughout - great for VRanimated canopy, bomb bay doors with deflectors and crew entry with laddertogglable crew figures Purchase Virtavia - B-47E for X-Plane 11 /images/notams/notams19/virt0129/b47e-2.jpgThis plane is also available for other simulators: Virtavia B-47E for FSX Virtavia B-47E for FSX: Steam
