/images/notams/notams22/navi0325.jpgStaff Picks - LSGS Sion AirportLooking for a new challenging airport to fly to? When flying for aSwedish Private Jet Charter Company one of my favorite destinationswas Sion airport (LSGS) in the Swiss Alps, mainly because of thebeautiful scenery and thrilling High Performance Departure over themountains. Give it a try! My name is Emma and I work as Growth Manager here atNavigraph. Before I started at Navigraph I flew the Beechcraft KingAir 300 and 350 for a Swedish Private Jet Company based at NorrkA_pingairport (ESSP) in Sweden. During the winter season we regularly flewski tourists to Sion Airport, beautifully located in the SwissAlps. This was one of my favorite destinations due to the stunningapproach and the excitement of the steep takeoff over themountains. If you were lucky you could even squeeze in a day or two ofskiing before leaving for the next destination. The IFR approach and departure procedures are limited to flightcrew holding a special authorization issued by the authorities due tothe geographical situation of the Sion Airport that lies inmountainous terrain. IGS RWY 25Another interesting fact is that runway 25 uses an IGS (InstrumentGuidance System) approach. The difference from a regular ILS approachis that the IGS does not line you up to land, in this case for the IGSRWY 25 the Localizer is offset by 6.5 degrees to the right for terrainreasons, which means that you break off left at the minima andcontinue for a final visual approach. Worth mentioning is also thatthe descent starts at 17'000 ft at MASAB at 27.3 DME (DistanceMeasuring Equipment) from LOC ISI with a 6 degree glide path(!) due tothe high mountains on final. Want To Try It Out?If you want to try the High Performance Departure or IGS Approach, which is one of the most beautiful but also most challenging in IMC(Instrument Meteorological Conditions) in Europe, get your NavigraphUltimate subscription onwww.navigraph.comand start exploring!

/images/notams/notams21/navi1008.jpgAIRAC Cycle 2110 has landed! Make sure your navdata and charts areup to date! The Navigraph navdata team is working actively on developing thenavdata service to offer a realistic flight simulationexperience. Through customer reports in our support forum, we havebeen able to further enhance the realism when using current navdatafrom Navigraph by introducing real-world beam widths for localizers inMSFS 2020. A localizer is providing the lateral guidance of an instrumentlanding system (ILS). When following the localizer, combined with theglideslope that provides vertical guidance down to the runway, youwill be at the correct altitude and aligned with the centerline. From AIRAC Cycle 2110 and onwards, Navigraph updates the localizersin MSFS 2020 to reflect their real-world beam width values that are inthe primary range of 2 to 6 degrees, instead of the default simulatorvalue of 5 degrees. /images/notams/notams21/navi0812.jpgAIRAC Cycle 2108 is out! Make sure your navdata and charts are upto date. The Navigraph development team is continuously doing work toenhance our charts and navdata services. Thanks to user postings inour support forum, we have been able to improve the accuracy of ournavdata service for MSFS 2020 during the past months. Our navdata development team recently had a breakthrough wheninvestigating a number of approaches in MSFS 2020 that had a slightlymisaligned ILS course. We are happy to announce that with Jeppesendata from Navigraph, all ILS approach courses are now aligned with thecentreline and identical to the Jeppesen charts. Courses for offsetapproaches LDA/IGS that were previously misaligned are now alsocorrect. We would like to thank all users who are submitting reports throughour support forum, allowing us to further enhance our navdataservices! Source
