Just got a new desktop with Windows 10 and have run into several problems. FSX will install, but will not launch - just get a black screen. Running in compatibility Mode for Windows 8 and as administrator. FS 2004 installed fine and works well, but I miss the flight recorder I installed in FSX. I downloaded FS Recorder 2004 ( fsrecorder_fs9_2-1.zip), but it won't install. I get an error message that says FS 2004 is not installed on my computer, then the installer goes to finished. Does anyone know hoe to install FS Recorder manually? Are there any other recorders out there that will work with FS 2004 in Windows 10?

Hi, Has anyone experience an issue with FSX and the new Windows 10 October Update? The software will no longer load after the update. I'm also having an issue with Nvidia Driver update post the Windows October 2018 update. I'm waiting to see if a future update by Microsoft or Nvidia will fix the issue. I already contacted Microsoft support and I keep getting push back that FSX is no longer a supported game. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. It was working fine before all the new updates. Thanks

Hello everyone, How are you doing? I am new to this forum and am generally new to flight simulation games in general. I have played CFS2 for about 6 months and absolutely loved it. CFS2 has an option when you right-click on it called "mouse as stick". If you click on it, it allows you to use your mouse as a flight controller. I have just installed CFS3 because I am crazy about the European theatre of WW2. However, I do not see an option to use my mouse as joystick. Can anyone help me with this? I remember reading on some website that there is a "mouse as yoke" setting in some config file but I haven't been able to find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello, everyone. I've been a flight sim enthusiast since the '90s. Back then I had the Thrustmaster FCS system. I really enjoyed it. I was out of the sims for a decade or so and about 5 years ago I purchased the Saitek X-55 system. It worked well on my Windows 7 laptop, but the laptop couldn't handle what was needed for proper flight sims. I've recently purchased a desktop with all the necessary components (Great graphics card, 64Gb RAM, etc). It's, of course, loaded with Windows 10. Several of my favorite sims are rather old. Think x-wing, Jane's Fighter anthology, Wing Commander, etc. The X-55 won't work on these sims. I've also loaded Jane's Advanced Tactical Fighter, and other "newer" sims. The x-55 won't work on them, either. The only sim it'll work on is X-plane 11. I'm now having trouble loading profiles into it, so I'm looking for a new HOTAS system. I liked the look of the X-65 - until I read that it's useless on Win 10. I like the X-56, but will I have the same problems I have with the X-55? I like buttons. The Thrustmaster A-10 HOTAS Really looks nice, but I'm not quite into spending almost $1000 for one. Can some of you help me out? Let me know what you think of the newer HOTAS systems. Thanks

Help! In spite of trying 3 different copies of FSX installation DVDs, I just can't get the program to load in Windows 10 for a first install. The DVD drive chatters away incessantly and the best I can get is the list of contents of various files and folders. Selecting 'Run as Administrator' or attempting to manually select the WindowsInstaller-KB89308-86x.exe or setup.exe options results in error messages suggesting insufficient disk space and the KB89308 file is for 'a different platform' whatever that means! Has this happened to anyone else please and is there a fix, like installing from an ISO file? Are there other compatibility issues between FSX and Windows 10? I completely overlooked the obvious - could this all be down to a 64-bit compatibility issue and is there any sort of work-around please? Cheers = Bob

I upgraded Windows 10 some time ago. It was successful and I was able to keep all my personal files. Now I can't boot into Windows 10. I started my Laptop today, after some time i kept getting errors and couldn't launch anything, then I decided to restart. When I restarted, was greeted by a message on the bottom, something about checking the hard drive for corruption My Laptop restarted after some time I saw "Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC". I tried to restart. When that didn't work I tried every single thing in the "Advanced" tab. I looked up my issue online and put in several different commands into the command prompt running from the X: drive (Win10's recovery drive I think). Nothing worked. I tried the reset, choosing "keep personal files". This was followed by a message that said Windows couldn't reset. I also tried going back to the latest update and "reverting" to Windows 10 to see similar errors. I can't start the Windows 10 drive in safe mode, because every time I go to the "Startup Settings" menu and press restart, Windows 10 goes back to the Automatic Repair thing. I can't start in safe mode or do any of the other actions on that menu because of this. I guess I could just install Windows 10 from scratch and copy needed personal files, but this would take lots of time and effort. Is there any way to get back to my normal Windows 10?

I have an Acer Predator Orion 3000 gaming system. I purchased a Logitech Flight Throttle Quadrant but cannot get it to work. In fact when it is plugged in to a USB port (not a blue USB 3 one) my computer fails to start. Problem goes away once I unplug the throttle's USB. I have downloaded the software from Logitech, when I run it I get to the point where it says plug in the USB and again when I do it crashes my system. I'm pulling out what is left of my hair trying to find a solution to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

When I have solved problems with Windows 10, I reinstalled Windows 10 again and also the FSX-files on my computer. Now I tried to reinstall FSX but the program refuses to install FSX again. I only can delete the old FSX-files or repair the old FSX-files. But there are no FSX-files left on my computer!! What is the solution?

How to Create Multiple Installs of FS2004 By Robin Meyerowitz Can I have more than a single FS2004 install? Of course you can; as many as you like. In fact, I have a few FS2004 separate installs myself. I have 'Golden Wings', FS Alaska, FS Vintage (pre WWI), FS History (WWII & misc), and of course, my Ford Tri-Motor install. Note that this is for Windows 10 and is very easy and simple to do: Tools: 'Everything' from https://www.voidtools.com/ This is, by far, the quickest desktop search engine. 'Teracopy' from https://www.codesector.com/teracopy The fastest copy utility I have found, and it replaces the default Windows search. Essentials: A fully working version of FS2004, installed in C:\ For FS2004 to work in Windows 10, it MUST be installed in C:\ and NOT in C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games If your FS2004 is still installed in in C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games, copy the whole FS2004 folder from Microsoft Games & paste the folder directly into C:\, and run it from there. Don¡¯t forget to send a shortcut of the FS9.exe shortcut to the desktop and to delete the old shortcut. The Easy & Simple Way If things don't work as expected: Right-click the desktop icon & select 'Properties' Select the 'Compatibility' tab, tick 'Compatibility mode, Pull down the menu & select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2) Tick 'Run this program as an administrator' Click 'Apply' then 'OK' Double-click (Run) Copy & Paste your complete Flight Sim folder onto a portable hard drive. You can also just Copy & Paste the folder into C:\ Rename the newly copied folder to Flight Simulator SE (for example) Rename the fs9.exe to fs9se.exe (for example) You now have a backup of your original sim Copy & paste your newly renamed Flight Simulator SE folder into C:\ Open the Folder & right-click the fs9se.exe & 'send to desktop -create shortcut)' Double-click (Run) that new shortcut It should work! You can then delete whatever scenery & aircraft that is not required in your new sim. DO NOT DELETE ANY DEFAULT AIRCRAFT or SCENERY. I you want to do a 'Ford Tri-Motor' install (for example), as I have, just rename the Flight Simulator SE main folder to Ford Tr-Motor Project and the fs9se.exe to fs9ford.exe. Right-click and send that to the desktop. You can then delete the fs9se desktop icon & rename the fs9ford icon to 'Ford Trimotor Project'. So, if you have a second or third FS2004 install, you just follow steps from 5-8. Each install must have its own folder, so you will have FS2004SE, Golden Wings & Silver Wings, as examples. The FS9.exe MUST be uniquely named for each install as well, so, in each additional sim folder you must rename the fs9.exe. The result being; you will end up with an FS9se.exe, a GW.exe and a SW.exe. You will therefore have separate cfg's, such as fs9se.cfg, gw.cfg & sw.cgf once the separate sims are run. So as to make your new FS2004 installations look unique, you can use your own splash screen, as I have done: You can also change the whole look of your sim by giving it a new interface such as these shown below: FS2004 Custom Interface Pack Download fs2004interface.zip FS2004 Custom Interface Pack 2 Download fs2004interface-pack2.zip As well as the two above, there are others that you can find. Simply search for 'interface' in our library. I hope this short article helps show users of FS2004 how easy it is to have multiple installations of the sim installed on their computers. The benefits, as you can see from above, are numerous, and really allow you to enjoy the sim to the fullest. So, with that said... Blue skies and happy flying! Robin Meyerowitz
