It isowned by Frasca Air Service, which also serves as the fixed-baseoperator (FBO). The airport is the site of Frasca International headquarters, aNorth American manufacturer of flight simulation training devices,with over 2600 training devices delivered in approximately 70countries throughout the world. Frasca International was founded inChampaign - Illinois, in 1958 by Rudy Frasca. The Frasca flightsimulators are used in all segments of the aviation industry. The FBO also houses Frasca Air Museum, which includes over 30aircrafts and Rudy's collection of WWII aircraft. It is located on USRoute 45 and accessible via I-74 exit 184 heading North, on theopposite side of the city from Willard Airport and is typicallyfavored by private and corporate operators. The Champaign-Urbana city scenehas nearly 500,000 accurately placed trees, more than 45,000 autogenbuildings and over 40 highly detailed points of interest. Bruce Artwick the creator of the SublogicFlight Simulator, which became later the Microsoft Flight Simulator,started the development of this software, so loved by all of us,exactly in that region at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Forus, it has been an honor and a trip in Flight Simulator's historydeveloping this scenery, and to recall one of the most common flights;Taking off from Chicago Meigs heading to Champaign and practicing aninstrument approach at that airport is a joy! /images/notams/notams19/flyt0118/002.jpgWe are working to offer the entire city of Champaign, including theUniversity of Illinois Willard Airport (KCMI) and Frasca City (C16)airfields, covering a total area of 900 km2, with satellite images inhigh definition and detailed autogen.
