/images/notams/notams21/lami0202.jpgOur new SR22 (coming soon to X-Plane Mobile) has a G1000 that's alittle bit different than those we've shipped in the past. Instead ofusing dials to add text (for waypoints, etc.), it has a handy QWERTYkeyboard! The Cirrus SR22 is a single-engine four or five seat compositeaircraft built from 2001 by Cirrus Aircraft of Duluth, Minnesota. Itis a development of the Cirrus SR20, with a larger wing, higher fuelcapacity, and a more powerful, 310-horsepower engine. Source

The newMMO completely revamps how multiplayer works in X-Plane, and we nowhave: A single shared world: Fly with anyone in the world! It no longermatters if your friends are on iOS or Android, or if they live downthe street or across the globe.Fly-In of the Day: We feature a different, popular airport eachday and prompt everyone to go there to ensure you always have peopleto fly with! (And if you just want to "plane spot," which our head MMOdev says "turns out to be surprisingly fun!", you can always start upat a gate and go to an external camera.)MMO is early access, and we're going to be iterating as fast aspossible on it going forward. /images/notams/notams19/xpla0716/mobile-1.jpgThese screen shots show the numerous airports and navigational aidscoming to the mobile version of X-Plane. As you can see, itrepresents a huge change, and will make the mobile version of X-Planefar more enjoyable. Whilst it's true the desktop version of X-Plane is a lot morepowerful and versatile, these updates go a long way in addressing theshortcomings of the mobile app. Looks like we are in for some goodtimes! /images/notams/notams19/xpla0716/mobile-2.jpg /images/notams/notams19/xpla0716/mobile-3.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams19/xpla0612/xpla0612.jpgAs we were preparing X-Plane Mobile for its next major update aswell as our presentation for FlightSimExpo last weekend, we knew wewere going to show off global scenery onX-Plane Mobile.35,000+ airports and the ability to fly virtually anywhere on theglobe is a huge undertaking, but we weren't satisfied and wondered ifwe could take the 3D airports from ourScenery Gatewayas well. /images/notams/notams19/xpla0612/tf-green.jpgThe first step was getting Desktop's scenery library (the "Legobricks") converted. Mobile has very specific needs to hit itsperformance budget, so we asked Petr (the amazing artist behind allthe scenery library improvements that X-Plane Desktop has gotten inthe last couple years) to take a look at migrating them. In no time,he had nearly 1,000 art assets ready to go, including: Terminals, hangars and ATC towersOther buildings like fire stations, gas stations and business centersJetways, baggage carts and belt loadersCars, parking garages and parking lotsFuel tanks and water towersMiscellaneous "clutter" including fences, noise barriers, picnic tables, light poles, flag poles, traffic cones and barbecue grills /images/notams/notams19/xpla0612/waterbury-oxford.jpgThis let Ben get to work porting rendering engine features to makeMobile support the new toys from Desktop, and it let me work on thescenery system infrastructure necessary to use the new art. Eventually we got to a point where we were running global terrain, with Gateway airports, just like we do on Desktop. X-Plane Mobile now has a total of 35,659 airports, of which 10,257have 3D scenery. And it just works. When you start a new flight, wedownload the scenery you're missing, and you can delete it from yourdevice later when you no longer need it. You can plan a long route andwe'll download all the scenery you'll need in advance - perfect for whenyou're traveling or otherwise without an internet connection. /images/notams/notams19/xpla0612/amsterdam.jpgGoing forward, we'll be able to take updates from the SceneryGateway, too. Every few months, Desktop users pick up some 500 to1,000 new 3D airports from the Gateway, plus hundreds of improvementsto existing scenery. Now we can bring those same ongoing improvementsto Mobile as well. Source
