It was of mixed construction and had a fixed tailwheel landing gear and was fitted with dual controls. The KR-21-B was a more powerful biplane development, using a 125 hp Kinner B-5 engine. Five were produced, three built as -B models and two converted from the -A. Our representation of both models of this iconic aircraft. The twin booms and high-set wing suspenda rudimentary box-shaped fuselage designed to carry large amounts ofcargo and parachute troops for delivery to the front line. It is nosurprise, then, that the design quickly earned its nickname, 'TheFlying Boxcar'. When production ceased in 1955, over 1,100 exampleshad been built in various configurations, including heavily armed'Shadow' and 'Stinger' gunships. This venerable cargo hauler was used extensively in the Korean War,dropping thousands of tons of much needed supplies and countlessparachute troops. It saw service with the US Navy, US Marine Corps andthe USAF. The USAF Strategic Air Command operated C-119s from 1955through to 1973 and the type saw service in many covert actions,including the aerial recovery of secret film from spy satellites.
