Since it's now winter in my part of the world, I decided to choosea nice Norwegian airport that I knew would go down well at this timeof the year. As many of you will no doubt know, Oslo is the capital city ofNorway, and the airport itself (ENGM) is its main internationalairport, seeing numerous flights throughout the year. It is especiallybusy around Christmas and the new year, which brings with it a regularcovering of snow, which can last until mid-April. So without further delay, let's get right into the nitty gritty ofthis scenery from Aerosoft. Coverage Area /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-11.jpgAs per the description on the Aerosoft web site, this product is ahighly realistic rendition of the real scenery, and although Icouldn't find an exact figure to say exactly how far out the detailgoes for this airport, it's obvious from being inside the simulatorand parked at the gate, that there is a massive amount included. Graphics And Performance /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-17.jpgOne of the main reasons I decided on this scenery, was because Ihad a feeling it would prove to be rather atmospheric on my sim, especially at this time of year. As per norm, my chosen platform was P3D V4.5, and straight away Inoticed that the scenery provided smooth frame rates, even with thein-sim slider settings set to the middle / right. I was even able touse additional features such as dynamic lighting and specialeffects. During my testing, I was able to get a decent 45 - 60 fps inside ofthe virtual cockpit, with the usual 60 fps outside, which is normal formost sceneries of this type and size - at least for me with myhardware setup. The textures on both the ground and the terminal buildings lookincredible (day and night), even though they are only 2048resolution. For me, this is especially important because when I fly toOslo in the simulator, it's usually around Christmas for aChristmas-themed flight, so I really love how everything looked socrisp and realistic. Another aspect I really enjoyed was how the scenery has beenoptimized for P3D V4. Things such as dynamic lights on the de-icingtrucks (which is new for P3D V4), and the dynamic flood lights, reallyadd that extra bit of realism and immersion. /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-01.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-02.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-09.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-10.jpgFeaturesAs ever, Aerosoft doesn't disappoint, and their list of featureswhich are included with the P3D V4 version of this scenery is prettyextensive: Fully compatible with FSX and P3DHigh quality models and photo real texturesHigh resolution runways and taxiwaysHighly realistic night time effectsHigh resolution textures included as an option (2048)All buildings and installations at and around the airportAnimations create a living atmospherePassenger boarding and deboarding animationsTerminal interior included in high detailSeasonal textures includedFully functional docking system and departure countdown includedCompatible with all AI traffic packagesStatic aircraft included as an option /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-03.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-08.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-13.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-14.jpgSystem RequirementsThe scenery has some basic requirements that you can expect from ascenery such as this. The actual list of requirements is asfollows: Microsoft Flight Simulator X (SP2, Acceleration, Gold Edition or Steam Edition) or Lockheed Martin Prepar3D (v3 or v4)Windows 7, 8, Vista, XPProcessor with 3.0 GHz (Dual Core processor recommended)2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)3D graphics card with 256 MB (512 MB recommended)Download Size: 470 MBInstallation Size: 550 MB /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-05.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-06.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-15.jpg /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-16.jpgIncluded SoftwareThe scenery itself also comes with its own configurationtool. Personally, I love scenery that includes something like this, although I would say it looks a little outdated (my onlycriticism). There are literally no other negatives I would say aboutthe tool - you can see from the screen shot below that it provides allthe options you really need. /images/reviews/arptoslo/t/mega-airport-oslo-18.jpgFinal VerdictSo time for the final verdict, and as ever I am extremely impressedwith yet another brilliant scenery product from Aerosoft. Mega AirportOslo V2 scores a solid 9 / 10 from me, with the only gripe of minebeing the scenery configurator tool which perhaps looks a littleoutdated. Having said that however, it is clear that the tool does itsjob and gives you all of the flexibility and control that you wouldever need. /images/reviews/arptoslo/mega-oslo.jpgMrYorkiesWorld Purchase Aerosoft - Mega Airport Oslo v2
