/images/notams/notams19/prop0320/prop0320.jpgBased on the stories from Ken Myles, a real-life Quatam RiverAirport pilot we have created a free add-on for the default Cessna172. This mod places you in an old school workhorse C172 with tworetro liveries. The cockpit is old and worn but has been given amodern touch with the retrofitted Garmin Angle Of Attackindicator. This modern avionics piece allows you to tell exactly howclose you are to stalling and allows you to safely fly close to thelimits of the aircraft. Perfect for short field landings where landingslow and precise is the difference between a safe landing and endingup in the trees. /images/notams/notams19/prop0320/kenmyles-1.jpgThis C172 is also been fitted with large 29-inch tundra tiresallowing for soft field and off-airport landings. You can also swapout the standard tricycle gear for the conventional taildraggerconfiguration. In the cabin, the backseats have been swapped out forcargo space which is dynamically added based on the payload added inthe X-Plane settings. A belly cargo pod is also added with the weightso you can carry all your bush flying supplies. /images/notams/notams19/prop0320/kenmyles-3.jpgWe have worked closely with SimCoders, the makers of theReality Expansion Pack,to ensure compatibility between their REP for the default C172 and ourbush pack. They have released an update which recognizes our customfiles and adds your regular REP features for the most realistic C172flying experience, now with a bush flying configuration. /images/notams/notams19/prop0320/kenmyles-2.jpgIn cockpit, Garmin Angle Of Attack indicator for improved Short landings and safe low-speed manoeuvring.Custom Tundra tyres with better shock absorbing.Tricycle and taildragger version.Dynamic cargo system. The plane has removed backseat to allow for cargo storage in the cabin. As you increase the payload in X-Plane you will see cargo build up in the back.Belly cargo pod automatically added when the payload is higher.Custom textures for interior and exterior giving a workhorse like look. Nothing is clean or new, everything looks used and old.Integration of Miniweeb's Slant Alpha cockpit layout meaning radio stack on the panel instead of GPS'. /images/notams/notams18/quat1002/quatam-1.jpgQuatam River Airport is a small airport in the mountains of BritishColumbia, Canada. The airport is located in a series of fjords andarms so although ocean water is just off the runway it is a longjourney to the open sea. The airport is just meters from the QuatamRiver which leads up a long valley and into the tall mountains. Theairport is a hub for forest workers who are clearing out the forest upand down the valley sides. The airport has been there for more than 35years serving many purposes. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-2.jpgIt features a 762-meter long dirt runway with the sea to thewest. Landings to the west and takeoffs to the east are discouragedunless winds are in strong favor of said direction. This is due to30-40 meter trees at the east end of the runway. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-3.jpgFeatures2 airfields10+ helipads10+ Bush plane landing spotsHand painted ground textures at a resolution of 2 cm per pixel by airportsDynamic runway obstruction plugin (Windows only)3D animated trees surrounding airportsHighly realistic 3D vegetation such as grass, shrubs and bushesRunway puddle effectsUse of X-Plane PBR materialsCustom mesh based on HD Mesh V4 by AlpilotXLiving airport with custom animated machinery and ground trafficHDR Night lightingThis scenery is available for X-Plane 11 only. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-2.jpgIn a brief Facebook announcement, PropStrike Studio has announcedthat their latest X-Plane 11 scenery, Quatam River Airport, will be released October 1. The latest announcement does not offer muchdetail, but based on previous posts on the airport they've stated: /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-1.jpgBush flying is fun but also serious business. Flying into bushstrips requires a lot of planning and a careful eye, after all, thelow to no maintenance in remote areas can present a series ofsurprises a pilot can face and being ready for the unexpected is partof the bush pilot's job. From minor runway obstructions to completelyruining your day, planning your landing on paper could mean a wholedifferent story when you get to your destination. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-3.jpgWe have been hard at work to provide you with such elements ofsurprise and now we are able to share with you a bit of what we havein store for you. The Dynamic Environment system, a plugin that will be shipped withthe upcoming Quatam river airport. A little piece of technology thatwill be able to create random runway conditions every time you flyinto one of our creations. A fallen tree, logging equipment orsomething completely third might have you rethinking your approach onthe fly. How to judge if you should commit to a landing, go to youralternate airfield or go back home will be entirely up to you. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-4.jpgWhen the obstructions are present they will be different from theprevious arrival or they might not be there at all. This is a new and entertaining way to keep your chops up that wehave been lacking in X-plane. Just like in the real world, a low passto inspect the runway will be part of your flight routine every timeyou fly into one of our new and upcoming PropStrike releases. /images/notams/notams18/prop0927/quatam-5.jpgFeatures included but not limited to:High-resolution custom painted ground textures for the airport.Custom high-resolution mesh for the surrounding area built on Alpilotx's new HD Mesh V4Several off-airport landing spots for bush pilots and helipads for the helicopter pilots.Developed with VR in mind.New ways to represent the surrounding area with high-resolution ground textures. Many custom objects and a big focus on clutter and filling not only the airport but the surrounding area.Dynamic prop system e.g. One day there will be a camp on a gravel bar in the river set up by people in canoes and the next day they will be gone. This adds to the realism and variation.PropStrike Studio Facebook Web site
