I completed the in-game training sessions and, while certainly useful and educational, they only cover just the bare basics of flying. That's all well and good, except I want to learn a bit more if I want to get the most out of the simulator and that includes learning the start-up, fuel mixtures (along with the whys and hows of it, that stuff is almost Greek to me), and even the radio/transponder. Why they don't include training for the more advanced stuff is beyond me, unless that's included in eventual updates (I hope so!). It's my intention to pretty much learn everything I can about an easy single-prop plane and practice flying that and hopefully eventually move on to the twin-prop, then turboprop and finally jet. I can't really do that unless I learn everything about flying a plane and not just the basics. Guess what I'm looking for is the simulator version of ground school. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance!

/images/notams/notams21/tops0809.jpgAll New Tutorial Videos For Microsoft Flight Simulator Two all-new videos for Microsoft Flight Simulator™ 2020 have beenreleased by TopSkills. Using Autopilot in MSFS 2020 explains in detail how torely on this important device through all significant flight phases, starting with preflight and ending at landing. One video is dedicatedto propeller aircraft, and a distinct video focuses on jetaircraft. Flight simmers will learn how to prepare their autopilots forflight, when to engage their autopilots, and how to use them throughall flight phases. The videos explain initial climb, climbing tocruise, cruising, descending, following instrument approaches, andfinal approach. Users will learn three techniques for maintainingheading and three for climbing and descending. The videos also coverspecial uses such as back courses, offset localizers, yaw dampers, andhalf banks. Auto-throttles, which operate separately from autopilots, are additionally explained. Both videos are thoroughly researched, deliberately scripted, clearly narrated, and independently verified for accuracy. In popularMP4 format, they are viewable on major video players. The packages contain four bonus items including completetranscripts of the respective videos and lists of autopilot keyboardshortcuts in MSFS 2020. "These videos use Microsoft Flight Simulator because it ispopular,†says author and host Bill Stack. “The principles and methodscan be applied to other simulators."> TopSkills has been producing quality self-learning materials forhome flight simulation since 1997. I'm in Commercial Pilot License in Korea, and I'm trying to use MSFS2020 for supplements. Now I use P3D, but there's no G1000 Panel operating full-features including RNAV Operation, and only one C172S Simulator on P3D, Carenado C172S does not support AHRS-Only Failure. Can MSFS2020 C172S simulate AHRS-Only Failure situation? Plus, what's your opinion against using MSFS for real-world training? When I tried to use it at the first time of release through XBOX subscription, I realized that G1000 Panel didn't match with the real G1000 Panel(in panel appearance, color, and many other things), Aerodynamics, especially didn't match at all. Are there some improvements in the aerodynamics of C172? In my opinion, P3D Accusim C172R's Aerodynamics is pretty similar to real C172R. Thrust responsibility, control responsibility, and performance are pretty similar to real C172R. It really helped me. Regarding this, how about transitioning from P3D to MSFS2020? Is it worth enough?

I have executed flight Lesson 8 six times and each time it says I failed because I landed at the wrong airport. I take off at Flagstaff, AZ (FLG) to go to Sedona, AZ (KSEZ). I've landed in both directions but I get the message: "You landed on the wrong runway and failed the lesson." HELP! Note, each time has been a fresh reload of the program!

I'm moving along nicely in the sim now, flying the Skyhawk pretty comfortably but will put in more hours to get a better hang and sense of airspeed, altitude and especially navigation and how to properly fly from point A to point B. That said, I'd like to begin learning about the differences between flying a Skyhawk to that of a twin engine, or a cabin pressurized plane designed to operate at higher altitudes (I guess that would be turboprops?) and eventually jet. I know the principles of flight remain the same, but I'd venture to guess that flying more advanced aircraft = more difficult and requiring more skill. How do I go about learning how to fly different types of planes?

I played MSFS many year ago with a variety of combat sims like Airwarrior. Since I am getting close to retirement age I don't think my wife would be too thrilled if I were to invest 40 grand to get a Private pilot's license and a 172 or Cherokee. So I thought I would put this gaming system and 4K tv to good use and save myself about 39,000. So here is my questions. Do people RP this or is it just kind of free roam, do what you want when you want, Are there air traffic controllers or is it more like non controller airfields, are there career modes or just flying from point A to Point B? I have a Saitek x52 that is a joystick yoke and also has a throttle could I fly with that or should I invest in rudder pedals too. At some point I would think about the Honeycomb system because the throttle body components seem to be flexible. and instead of investing $2,500+ on gps , panels, and switches I was going to see about air manager for my interactive instrument cluster with their knobster. Talking with another Simmer he recommended Aerofly because it has a pretty good training scenario that other don't. If anyone would like to offer their 2 cents I would gladly take it under advisement.

Are you a beginning flightsimmer who would like to learn how to fly like real pilots do? Most real world pilots begin by training for their PPL (private pilot license) and one of the most popular training aircraft is the Cessna 172such as the one made byA2A Simulations for FSX and Prepar3D. Some of the popular flight simulator packages, FSX for example, have rather good learning tools built right in. But if you you are the sort who learns well through videos you will enjoy the video created by Youtuber Peter Matthess "Mantock" using the A2A C172 Trainer. Here is the introductory episode: The training series is currently up to six episodes, with more to come.
