sparky347
Have been doing a little flying in Brazil and have noticed some strange terrain and glitches , I have noticed that a lot of airports are either on a hill or in a hole. Not all of coarse but quite a few. Wonder is that how they really are or is it a glitch in FSX scenery in that part of the world. If you want to see what I mean try SWTY (in a hole) and SWCB (on a hill) . And found a couple of real weird glitches . One is SWHG . If someone would like to check these out and see what you think . llivaudais
Regarding airstrips with mixed-up elevations: these occur most often in "underdeveloped" countries; S America; Africa; Asia. These have very poor terrain resolution ; this means 'mountains' have rounded contours. This results in some ground elevations being too high or too low - airports being up on a plateau or down in hole in the ground. The FreemeshX freeware terrain mesh for the entire world will help resolve this issue in a lot of these locations. change in terrain.... BEFORE AFTER On a few cases I've moved the airfield elevation to a 'best fit' ( and probably never flew there again ). Papua New Guinea is another place of serious mountain vistas, but you'd never notice unless you replace the terrain mesh. Hooked since FS4... now flying: self-built i7-4790 at 4 GHz; GA-Z97X mobo; GTX 970; 16GB gskill; quiet, fast and cool running. Win 7/64: 840 EVO OS; 840 EVO (500G) game drive; Win10/64: 850 EVO (500G) for OS and games A few Flightsim videos on YouTube at CanyonCorners
sparky347
Ok , thanks for the information ,even tho I don't fully understand it. Not sure if I'd want to take a chance of trying to fix it with FreemeshX tho . With my luck I'd likely just make it worse.
