Grab a map and look at Northern England, and you’ll see the area is nearly all National Park Land. This month we explore 3 of those parks.

Starting in Blackpool, pilots will fly over Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales National Park. Turning Northwest and crossing in Lake District National Park, which is a top area for stargazers as it’s isolated from city lights makes it one of the best areas for watching the sky at night. Our next stop is North Pennines nature preserve a 2000 square kilometer moorland and a UNESCO Global Geopark made mostly of mud and volcanic ash.

Your mission is to fly from Blackpool (EGNH) to Newcastle (EGNT) with any Canadian Xpress single engine freeware or payware that you have the rank to fly.

Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including:

I would take issue with your description of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, abbreviated to AONB.

What it isn't is a collection of mud and volcanic ash. There are peatlands, open heather moors, hay meadows, woods ( a collection of trees for those whose native tongue isn't Yorkshire) as well as the remnants of a mining and industrial past.

A preserve is stewed or boiled fruit in what Americans, and Canucks, call a Mason Jar. Definitely not a area of outstanding natural beauty.

Thank you.

Thanks for pointing this out. I will be sure to let the person know that did the research for regarding the North Pennines area that he was way off base.

With regards,
