To fellows FRAPS users

Recommended Posts

Since the update, FRAPS does not seem to work anymore, I am missing the info on the upper left corner of my screen...

Do fellows FRAPS users experience the same?

Or am I the only one?

Thanks in advance for your input

What's "FRAPS"?

It’s a little program for displaying the FPS (frames per second)

I have a question now... does it work in VR? IF it does then I’ll try it.

The framerate counter is a bit too bold for me, but does the job.

FRAPS does more than that though, you can record videos and take pictures with it by setting up hotkeys. I used to use it a lot in FSX but haven't done a lot with in in MSFS so far as I have been too busy with other things.

  • 2 months later...

When I open Fraps, I get an error It'll record Sound, no video

fraps.jpg

Win 10 pro I have the latest version of Fraps 3.5.99.

When I tried to record a flight in Microsoft flight sim 2004 aka, fs9 or FS2004, I got an error (The custom video player etc., etc., is not compatible with fraps, codecs etc., etc...

Then it opens my default programs and says choose one, then: this item was encoded in a format not recognized etc., etc.,

Is there a work around?

I've written Fraps to no avail.

Hi, I’ve never used Fraps but the error message says Fraps uses a “custom codec”

The problem probably isn’t down to flight sim.

Are you using FS2020 as well? If not you might be better asking in the FS2004 forum... but I think all you need to do is download the latest version of VLC Player, as the above error message suggests.

The latest VLC will probably have the codec that Fraps uses (it’s the way it compresses the video)

You could also use the Xbox game bar. Press Win+G and it should pop up. It’s excellent at recording.... displaying FPS... etc & it’s built into Windows 10
