halaywi
Hello All! I am new to flight simulators. I purchased a joystick and downloaded FlightGear, X-Plane, and Microsoft Flight Simulator X. But I can't get the joystick to be associated with the simulators to do anything. Could you please direct me how to get started? Thanks!
Founder Nels_Anderson Posted April 9, 2019 Founder Share Posted April 9, 2019 Any flight simulator is going to have a learning curve so probably best to pick one of those and stick with it until you've made some progress. Assuming your joystick works, any simulator will have a setup menu that you use to associate the joystick axis and buttons with aircraft functions. Start up your sim of choice and look for the setup or options menu, it should not be hard to find.
jgf
Go to "Game Controllers" in Control Panel and make sure your joystick is showing there; if not, windows isn't recognizing it (try a different USB port). If it appears there, make sure you have enabled it in your sim.
