Where to install FSX-SE

Hi all,

I have finally taken the plunge and decided to purchase FSX-SE, and just

wanted to confirm that it is possible to install it on a separate hard drive.

I have W7 64bit OS installed on a 250gb SSD and have two 500gb SSDs

for simulator installs, one is for my various FS9 installs, (I have 4:D golden

wings, silver wings etc) and the other has addon scenery etc. My intention

is to install FSX-SE to this FS9 drive, will this work?

I suspect the answer to this is fairly obvious:o, but I just wanted to check,

before I go ahead and waste time tyring to do something that cant be done.

cheers

short answer: install anywhere away from "program Files"

The Steam application/environment will default to program files on C:\ but you can (and should) change the install location AWAY from those program folders. You may install to the 500G drives without any penalty or problems. If space becomes a problem you can also MOVE the Steam installation to another location (just did it a couple of months ago) if you need to.

If I understood correctly, you could also place Steam games in aditional/other locations. If this is correct, you could then install Steam and FSX in different locations - FSX would be simpler to manage if it wasn't buried several layers deep inside the Steam installation. Perhaps someone has installed in this manner and could give some clarification.
