FS Recorder for FSX-SE?

BigT-65

Recommended Posts

Why can't I get FS Recorder to run. I have followed all of the detailed installation instructions to the letter. When I start up FSX-SE it gives me the incompatible message and I click OK. Then I get this message: "A problem occurred during SimConnect initialization of the FS recorder Module!. The recorder will not be available." I am using the correct version for Steam, I have all 4 of the SimConnects installed. My AI Carriers and FSUIPC get loaded into the addon folder without a problem but FS Recorder will not load up. I don't know what else to do.

Just to be sure, double-check ALL your Simconnect versions. You must have v10.0.61355.0. Make certain you have that specific version loaded. Best way to check, is to open your PC's Control Panel window, and select Programs and Features. Search down through the list for the Simconnect entries. The version numbers are listed a few columns to the right.

If you don't have that specific version number, you'll have to google it to find out a decent download site. Only trust a Microsoft site. There are a lot of others, but some are malware, viruses, whatever. Just be careful what you download :)

There's a lot of really useful information HERE. I suggest you read through it.

Other than that, I haven't a clue what it might be...

These are the associated files:

Lib v.10.0.62615.0 RTM v10.0.60905.0 SP1 v10.0.61242.0 and XPACK 10.0.61259.0

Which one would have to be v 10.0.61355.0?

You don't go hunting for any Simconnect files at all. FSRecorder auto installs what ever Simconnect it is going to use. Cheesh!

The problem is elsewhere. Like do you have FSUIPC in the Modules folder (under FSX folder)? Ah? OK. Then save a backup of you FSX.cfg and delete it. Restart FSX to build a new one. Go from there. I suspect you will solve your problem this way. We all have all kinds of add ons that CAN mess up your install.

Matbe it's been changed to install the right Simconnect, and Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Runtime, but the link I gave says it doesn't. You need to do it yourself.

Did you unzip ALL the files contained in the zip file you downloaded into a temp folder, and then run the Setup.msi?

Did you manually add the proper entry into your DLL.XML?

May I ask, which OS you're using? It apparently matters to how you run FSRecorder. Read through the File/directory permissions section of the page I linked to you. It may solve your problem. May not too :)

Just a couple of thoughts. I don't know if they'll help any or not...

Besides, I get so few lately, I have to get them down fast or they die of lonliness.

Good luck!

This is interesting. I ran the tool in the link mentioned above to identify the SimConnect versions and got different results from looking them up on the Control Panel. Using the tool, for SP1 it shows v10.0.61355.0 where the Control Panel search shows v10.0.61242.0 and for XPACK the tool shows v10.0.61637.0 and control panel shows v10.0.61259.0. Actually looking them up in their respective directories they show the same versions as the control panel search. So?

I tried a Google search for SimConnect v10.0.61355.0 but no download options came up. I think I should at least try to apply this version to see if it makes a difference. Maybe someone can post a link that I can download from. I have done all the required procedures and everything seems to be in order I don't know what else to try.

I got a feeling you are not telling us some vital information. Do you have FSX-SE installed under the 'Program Files (x86)' folder? Do you have Sim installed in an external HDrive? What are your specs? Laptop or desktop? CPU and speed? Also is your FSX a SP1 & Sp2 version or is it Acceleration version?

More information: I am running FSX-SE it is installed on my C drive which is a 500GB SSD. It is installed in Program Files (86) in the steam directory. All programs, scenery and addons related to FSX are installed on this SSD along with Windows 10 Pro and just a couple of other applications. Everything else is installed and kept on another 2TB internal hard drive. I have just recently upgraded my desktop computer with a Gygabyte Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 motherboard, Intel i7-8700K processor turboed at 4.4 MHz, 16GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 3000 memory, Master Air MA610P CPU cooler, Corsair 850 watt PSU and Asus GTX960 OC with 4 GB GDDR5 memory. When I had the boxed version of FSX it was the Deluxe edition and I had Acceleration installed. I switched to Steam Edition about 3 years ago because I was having lots of issues with the boxed version. I don't believe it was because of my computer setup at the time because the Steam version worked great. I don't think my computer is the problem. All of the rest of FSX runs perfectly. I have lots of ORBX scenery and airports and it all looks great. I have my frame rates set to 35 and it stays there the whole time except around LA, Seattle and a couple of other cities. The only thing I can't get to run is FS Recorder. I understand that it was not designed to run with FSX-SE but I believe some others have got it to work. I also have 3 24 inch monitors in wide screen mode. Edited by BigT-65

Hi.

Ver. 1.3 is the only FS Recorder version I could use in FSX Steam Edition.

You could download it here:

https://od.lk/d/NzdfODUwNjEyMV8/recx_13.zip

The try to let the Ver 1.8 work by finding and applying SimConnect v10.0.61355.0 ( as stated on Steam forum) continues, but I start to believe that such problem fix is a scam.
