I don't remember exactly, it was a long time ago I last had it happen. It is either because settings are too high. Computer can't keep up. Too many details need drawing. For example when using high detail aircraft. Very instense weather. (Many cloud layers, long weather range, high density clouds, etc.). High detailed (payware) scenery addons. Or, it was because of having DX10 selected in fsx settings. The last time I saw it was a long time ago. So was the last time I used DX10. But I think it's more likely to be too high settings.
