goodjohn80
Hello everybody, I am running FSX Steam Edition on Windows 10 for about a year now but lately I am experiencing a lot of crashes. Maybe someone could point me into the right direction. Here is the system message I get when it happens: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xC000014B): Exception from HRESULT: 0xC000014B at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.SimConnect.ReceiveDispatch(SignalProcDelegate pfcnSignal) at Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.SimConnect.ReceiveMessage() at FSXWX.Form1.DefWndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ContainerControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- FSXWX Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/NewMike/Desktop/FSXWX.exe ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- Accessibility Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Accessibility/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Accessibility.dll ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect Assembly Version: 10.0.61259.0 Win32 Version: 10.0.61637.0 (FSX-Xpack.20070926-1421) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_32/Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect/10.0.61259.0__31bf3856ad364e35/Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll ---------------------------------------- msvcm80 Assembly Version: 8.0.50727.9348 Win32 Version: 8.00.50727.9348 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/WinSxS/x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.9348_none_d08c1480442bf1e1/msvcm80.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Configuration Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Configuration/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Configuration.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.8825 (WinRelRS3.050727-8800) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Core Assembly Version: 3.5.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.5.30729.8833 built by: WinRelRS3 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Core/3.5.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Core.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. f16jockey_2
At first glance the error originates as a Simconnect crash triggered by FSXWX. I can't help any further, as I neither have FSX:SE nor FSXWX. And from what I read, Simconnect installation on FSX:SE seems rather complicated. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in. goodjohn80
Have you tried installing all of the legacy simconnects? Look in \steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces to find the three versions. Thanks for your reply! Yes, I installed the three versions by clicking on it. Did not change anything, still crashing.
cporses
I have the same problem with FSX-Se and P3Dv2. Errors include "unable to open child window" and "unsupported operation ...." It seem that the latest update to Windows 10 is the problem. Mine was installed on 1/11/2017. According to posts in other forums, Microsoft is aware of the problem and it will be fixed in the next update due later this month.

jorgen.s.andersen
"The next Windows update" happened Tuesday morning, US time. And, if this is a Windows 10 issue, why then does FSX run fine for me? To say "This is a Windows 10 issue" is pure and simple a load of bovine byproduct, but is has become a knee-jerk reaction for many, unfortunately. richytogo
That link is old now. After last Win10 update. Hopefully the OP is on a x64 CPU. Cheers, I also had the creator child window. I reinstalled fresh win 10 creator 1709 and fxs-se without the add-ons and still got the error, rendering it useless. I restored a back up to win 10 1609, works great. I’m blocking 1703 at the door. I searched for any help on this. Nothing. From the start of win 10 16 series was a god send, my computers runs better then ever. Now I have beef is with the forced upgrades. Make backups of your multiple disk system. It makes reinstalling a whole lot easier on my time Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
jorgen.s.andersen
If it was a problem with Win 10 and Creator's update 1709, I would have it, since I have that installed.. I don't have the issue, therefore it is NOT a Windows issue. Jorgen
goodjohn80
Thanks to all for your input, the last Win10 update this week fixed it for me! OK, the problem recurred. I finally uninstalled FSXWX and downloaded and installed Active Sky Next from Steam and never had any problems again. There seems to be a compatibility issue with Win10 and FSXWX.
