Use NotePad (included in Windows), or notePad++ (a freeware), or some other text editor. Never use a word processor to edit a .cfg file.

In the FSX.cfg, look for the section [Display] . In that section, look for the lines InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0 , and so on. Each one is pretty self-explanatory. They are in a RGB format. Thus, in that line, the text will be entirely red. To change the color, adjust the numbers to a different setting. Like, to make it green, change it to 0,255,0 or mix the numbers up to make different colors.

You must have FSX NOT running, as it reads the FSX.cfg on start-up, so you have to make your changes, save it, and then start FSX again. If it's not what you want, you have to shut FSX all the way down, make a change, re-start it, etc.

Does that help?

Always always always make a back-up copy of any file you edit before you start!

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!
