TomG628
Hi, I am new to X-plane and am also an FSX user. My favorite small aircraft in FSX are the A2A Cessnas and Pipers. You feel you own a real plane with the maintenance features, and the sounds in flight are remarkable including the "airflow/slipstream" sounds that increase as the speed increases. Is there a similar addon for X Plane? I don't think A2A makes anything for XP. Thanks, Tom
RatRace
I don't think A2A makes anything for XP. True, but the Alabeo Cessnas and Pipers are quite good. Not exactly A2A standards, but then again, what is ? Anyhoo, I don't think you can go much wrong with Alabeo. And if I mention Alabeo once more, I get a commission :)
TomG628
Thanks for the help Ratrace. I'm just getting ready to install the program. Is the scenery good and accurate? I hope to be up and running soon.
RatRace
Is the scenery good and accurate? Scenery can be excellent, but not straight out of the box. Absolute must haves are: - HD Mesh by alpilotx for the scenery mesh http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-mesh-scenery-v3/ - World2XPlane for overlays like buildings, roads, trees etc. http://world2xplane.com/ The good news is that both are free- or donationware. The bad news, it takes some work. Airports may initially be somewhat of a let down too, but there are numerous freeware ones available. A good place to start is the official X-Plane Scenery Gateway https://gateway.x-plane.com/; and of course our very own Flightsim File Library. PS: to give you an idea, just take a look at Dominic's interview with scenery designer Oleg Shevchenko https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?16477-Interview-With-Scenery-Designer-Oleg-Shevchenko
TomG
Thanks again. I went to the Alabeo website and checked out some of the planes. Very nice with crisp gauges. Unfortunately the several that I looked at didn't have autopilots. I'll have to look again. Do those sceneries have instructions or a guide to help install? I'm not that tech oriented. RatRace
HD Mesh and World2Plane haver their own tutorials of sorts http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-mesh-scenery-v3/#Installation http://world2xplane.com/tutorials/ I would advise to read Ben Supnik's instructions first: http://www.x-plane.com/?article=changing-custom-scenery-load-order-in-x-plane-10 Load order is important in X-Plane. And if things go wrong, you can always ask for help :) Edit: MrCobolman has some nice YouTube tutorials on installing X-Plane scenery (including photo scenery)

The first is the Carenado Centurion found here: https://www.fspilotshop.com/carenado-c210m-centurion-series-for-plane-p-4592.html The second is the fantastic SimCoders - Expansion pack for the Centurion. It's the closest X-Plane has got to an A2A product and is a must have in my opinion: https://www.fspilotshop.com/simcoders-expansion-for-carenado-cessna-centurion-for-plane-p-5720.html Have fun and let us know how you get on:D Dom
LowTransition
I wholeheartedly second what Dom has to say about the SimCoders Reality Expansion Pack for the Carenado Cessna 210. It takes an already gorgeous looking aircraft file and significantly improves upon it in many areas, turning it into a "living" airplane similarly to what you're familiar with from your A2A airplanes. The accuracy of the flight model in comparison to the real world performance of a Turbo Centurion is astounding. It makes me want to fly nothing else. Now if only we could get the Reality Expansion pack for the F33A Bonanza in the PilotShop…. I recently wrote a review of the SimCoders REP for the 210. Keep a lookout for it in the coming weeks.
