Guest jmerc
Hi All, I have run FSX on this machine for over a year, and never had any problems with freezing or crashing. I'm beside myself with frustration, and beg you all for some guidance! Thank you in advance. In the past 2 weeks, I have done the following, - Purchased and installed a new video card (XFX Radeon R7 360) and applicable drivers. Used for 2 days with no freezing happening. The 3rd day, I: - Installed a 3rd party replacement of default some trees, textures: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1373/fsx-modified-terrain-textures-config-file/ - Installed this 3rd party runway texture package: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1407/fsx-airport-ground-texture-upgrade/ Then, I had flashing runways, so I installed this: http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/download/2612-fsx-dx10-shader-fixers-v322/ Then the game began freezing and crashing within a few minutes every time I ran it. I have since put the original files back in the Textures, etc folders from my backups, and disabled DX10 Preview. Still freezing within 5 minutes of flying every single time. Then, I rebuilt my FSX.cfg file using this tool Still the same problem. From the FSX Crash window: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: g3d.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.61637.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 46fadb58 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000a0ebd OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: LCID: 1033 From Event Viewer: Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14 Faulting module name: g3d.dll, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb58 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000a0ebd Faulting process id: 0xa04 Faulting application start time: 0x01d0c6569b3e87da Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\g3d.dll Report Id: e08b6e34-324a-11e5-89af-02f0476a0a01 System Specs 125 GB Samsung SSD Windows 7 Pro SP1 - 64 Bit Intel i7 950 @3.07 GHz (never overclocked) 12 GB Ram AMD Radeon R7 360 Graphics Card (I know, NVIDIA is preferred, but I got a good deal and didn't have this problem after installing)
MBKHOU
You should let FSX itself rebuild the fsx.cfg. You should not need a tool for that. Are you using FSUIPC? I think the g3d.dll error you are seeing is the one that FSUIPC will correct. Sometimes driver issues can cause that error, which is scenery related, but being as it ran OK for a while, the driver may not be the problem.
