jshim
I have recently purchased the Intel i5-4690K to replace my old AMD FX-4130. The performance gain was superb, but it did nothing to remedy a problem that has plagued FSX for a few weeks. When I start a flight, I get great FPS, 30s at default airports and 20s at payware airports. However, after about 15 minutes on the sim, the FPS steadily drops to below 10. Another weird thing is that when I'm on the FSX window, the FPS is horrible, but when another window is in front of the FSX window or FSX is paused, the FPS immediately jumps to the 30s and 40s. I feel that it isn't a hardware problem, since the CPU swap did nothing and the GPU ran fine with FSX until this problem occurred. Because of that, I feel that this is a software problem, most like with fsx.cfg. What are your opinions? Here are my specs: MB: ASRock H97M Pro4 CPU: Intel i5-4690K overclocked to 4.0GHz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 120V Seidon GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB RAM: 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3 HHD: SATA 1TB PSU: 520W Thanks in advance. Here are some desktop screenshots to help illustrate my problem. When I'm on the FSX window, the FPS is at 4.4. But when another window is in front of FSX (in this case Core Temp), the FPS jumps to 33.2. http://www.pcflyer.net/indicators/1252048.png S2-rated VATSIM controller @ ZAB Albuquerque ARTCC
